My undying hatred

Because before every revolution there were people who thought there would never be a revolution in their lifetime. History proved them wrong. It is unwise to reject entirely the possibility of something happening, especially when it has happened before. And by actively working towards it we can increase the chance of it happening again. We are not passive passengers on the moving train of history, we are its drivers.

The average person losing faith in the institutions of liberal democracy in a way I would have thought impossible even 5 years ago.

Burkina Faso already had a proletarian revolution in our life time. There will be more but if you mean will you see it where you live and you live in a western nation I doubt it.

There may be a few western nations that might flip unexpectedly but I'm not holding out hope. Most labor aristocrats will choose to live through fascism before socialism is given a chance. So I'd guess it'll be a few decades minimum.

The only hope I have is the hope that I am wrong.

In my mind thinking about it like this is a mistake, when a revolution will happen is in many ways unpredictable, but if there is no group working for it, pouring their heart and soul to make it more likely day by day, it is impossible, so we should work for it as hard as we can without much concern for when will it happen we need to work to make the if it will happen a certainty

Well I'm old and while I may see a revolution in my lifetime, I won't say it will be a Communist revo (but anything is possible, I guess). I keep agitating and conversing for those behind me, because I think they're worth it and deserve a chance.

Not in my lifetime where I currently live, but…

Before you can have a communist revolution, you usually first need a indigenous bourgeois revolution against foreign imperialists. Given the trajectory of the waning hegemon, some places should soon become loose of the imperial yoke, possibly through little to no effort of their own, thus opening up the possibility of Communist revolution afterward. And thanks to BRICS, with China as the leader, they don’t necessarily have to fear economic sanctions after the revolution.

The conformist depression of the left since the 90s has been healing for the last decade or so. Eurocommunism and social democracy seem to be dying as ideologies, and people are getting more radicalised worldwide, be it right or left. So there's hope for some revolutions to happen in some places, while sadly we should also expect reactionarism to win in others.

Also China is finally confronting the USA and becoming a match in economic, military and political power. Even if one doesn't see China as socialist, it's undeniable that they are neither interventionist nor hostile to socialism abroad.

I will single-handedly raise the Commune of '17 from the oceanic trench where it has been resting, covered in ghosts and seaweed!

NATO is on the way out (violently kicking and screaming the whole way).

BRICS is on the way in (building mutually beneficial ties with communist vanguard run states as part of the forefront).

Something something weeks where decades happen. I don't expect it all to go down smoothly or feel bold enough to have a specific timeline in mind, but the world is growing ripe for communism to make a worldwide comeback from the barbaric repression of the post-WWII world order. People still have to make it happen though. It's not an automatic process.

Inertia factors into things, systems of power and material conditions factors into things, but don't take it for granted, either as especially strong in a desirable way or especially strong in an undesirable way. Imperialists are every bit as capable of shitting their pants as anyone else. Don't be too intimidated by that which is fallible and decays, and remember we're all factors in the state of the world, whether we want to be or not, and no matter how disempowered some of us are in relation to the levers of power. Still factors and still can effect change, including change that changes that relationship.

Why would I work towards something I thought was not possible? Sure I understand thebold phrase, "old men plant trees they will never experience the shade of" but I do at least expect to make juice out if the few fruit that tree produces before it's mature.

I've said before that I'm a self interested person, and in my self interested is the emancipation of all people. I hope because if I didn't then I'd lose motivation to see that revolution in my lifetime.

Our collective consciousness is the universe made self-aware. Proleteriat revolutions elsewhere are still the benefit of humankind.

But also the contradictions and collapsing of the West.

Given the severity of (future) climate change at this point, I'm honestly not for sure.
