Need help studying history

Hello comrades,

As I have mentioned before I am an aspiring Marxist-Lenninist. You have given me great tips on how to approach the theory, but my next question is as follows. What recommendations do u guys have to learn about history from an Marxist perspective. I would prefer books as those are easier to read for me.

I would like books on the following topics and time periods:

  • ancient civilisations
  • classical antiquity
  • the middle ages
  • the renaissance
  • the enlightenment
  • the colonial eras
  • industrial revolution
  • age of imperialism
  • the world wars
  • anything related to Yugoslavia, Cuba, USSR, Ukraine, Poland and china

I hope my question is understandable! My knowledge in history is a bit limited as I have not had a particularly high education in the past. I’m start a political science degree this September and want a good historical basis.

Regarding Cuba, China and the USSR, Prolewiki has an extensive list of books:

As for the ancient civilizations to the second world war, maybe "A Short History of the World" by Iona Berkhin might help.

Hope it helps! My answer did not address everything that you asked for but at least I hope that it tackled 80% of the topics that you are seeking.

For the ancient civilizations, Herodotus - Histories is a must, as well as Plato - The Republic.
