Common Grackle

The common grackle is a species of large icterid bird found in large numbers through much of North America. First described in 1758 by Carl Linnaeus, the common grackle has three subspecies. Adult common grackles have a long and dark bill, pale yellow eyes, and a long tail. Common Grackles make a variety of squeaks, whistles, and croaks. The typical song, made by both males and females, is a guttural readle-eak accompanied by high-pitched, clear whistles. It lasts just less than a second and is often described as sounding like a rusty gate. Males and females make a very short, harsh chaa or chitip call when alarmed, taking flight, or approaching other grackles. Bufflehead

The bufflehead is a small sea duck of the genus Bucephala, the goldeneyes. This species was first described by Carl Linnaeus in his landmark 1758 10th edition of Systema Naturae as Anas albeola. Concerning calls, Males often give a grating or chattering call during their head-bobbing courtship displays, and they may squeal or growl in late winter or spring. Females give a guttural cuk-cuk-cuk call when circling around potential nest sites. Females also call to their ducklings with a low, throaty note that makes them hurry after her. Saw my favorite bird(Cedar Waxwing)

and all i could do was try my best. They were in my persimmon tree, a big ol flock. But this was the best picture I could get thru the binoculars on my phone. 😇

The burrowing owl, also called the shoco, is a small, long-legged owl found throughout open landscapes of North and South America. Magnolia Warbler

The magnolia warbler (Setophaga magnolia) is a member of the wood warbler family Parulidae. I couldn’t find a written description of their songs so here is a link to a recording of one of their songs. The magnolia warbler winters in southern Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. And they travel up to the Northeast, and Northern Great Lakes region to breed.
