Hmmm...

edgemaster72 @lemmy.world - 4day

Assuming those lines are parallel, wouldn't the acute angle be 24.2º? Or is there something I'm missing here?

agamemnonymous @sh.itjust.works - 4day

Yeah I was wondering why it added up to 192°. Maybe I'm a freak, but I would've measured ambient temperature and drawn a supplementary angle. Also what scale is that thermometer on? That room is either really hot or almost freezing.

NeatNit @discuss.tchncs.de - 4day

Looks like normal body temperature in Celsius. it's probably holding the last measurement, presumably from under someone's tongue.

21
agamemnonymous @sh.itjust.works - 4day

Which just means it would have been even easier to make the supplemental angle add up! Ugh.

village604 @adultswim.fan - 4day

I don't think most medical thermometers will read that low of a temperature, because if your body temp is 24C, you're dead.

Pens, however, can write a wide range of angles.

taiyang @lemmy.world - 4day

Technically there is a notation for parallel lines so you can't actually assume that, but I agree with everyone else that this would have been funnier if it added up to 180 degrees.

Btw. PSA to young folks, that notation looks like > on each line and some standardized tests will fucking get you on a technically with that shit, especially with the "it's impossible to know" answer being an option.

SapphironZA @sh.itjust.works - 4day

He has not reset it between measurements, so its still showing his body temperature, not the angle he is pointing at.

I swear, people dont know how to use measuring equipment anymore. 🙄

bonenode - 4day

Yeah, I think you are missing that this is just a meme.

4
SapphironZA @sh.itjust.works - 4day

Its a Science meme, details matter!

runner_g - 3day

intentionally wrong for engagement maybe?

2
dream_weasel - 4day

I think the most likely answer is that it's a non-euclidean space.

2
Siethron @lemmy.world - 4day

That's a 192 degree total which is wrong assuming those are parallel lines

15
exasperation @lemmy.dbzer0.com - 4day

Yeah, it's funny either way, but would be even funnier if the answer had been correct.

5
AllNewTypeFace @leminal.space - 4day

Just mention Jesus in your answer and you’ll be fine

11
loaExMachina [any] - 4day

Doesn't that only work if the teacher is transgender?

1
SapphironZA @sh.itjust.works - 4day

The definition of degree is literally an arbitrary unit of measure, not a specific one.

Its not like measuring Roentgen, which can be good, bad or 3.6 which is "not great, not terrible"

10
Warl0k3 @lemmy.world - 4day

That is either a fucking cold or a fucking hot room, wtf?

NeatNit @discuss.tchncs.de - 4day

Or armpit

Or anal orifice.

2
Saapas - 4day

It's body temperature lol

6
Warl0k3 @lemmy.world - 4day

Its not in a body tho! (Yes, I'm aware of how a thermometer works. My comment was a joke.)

JesusChristLover420 @lemmy.sdf.org - 4day

It's a completely normal temperature for a desert

Yes, I too enjoy ice cream.

You're thinking dessert

Something feels off. Can't quite put a finger on it.

7
Uri @infosec.pub - 4day

I did the calculation and you are wrong both way

6
BeeegScaaawyCripple - 4day

That's not how you measure degrees. You use an amateur backhoe

6
QuinnyCoded @sh.itjust.works - 4day

what'd you call me?!
