Statistically, probably with the beetles. 🪲

frizzo - 7day

The moths. Most likely not to eat me.

61
marcos @lemmy.world - 6day

The beetles and the bees won't eat you either. They can harm you in other ways though.

4
redsand @lemmy.dbzer0.com - 6day

If I can't get Absolute Radience in godhome a cafeteria will have to do.

4
VerilyFemme @lemmy.blahaj.zone - 7day

Moths!

Or maybe bees. I have always wanted to hug a bumblebee.

38
Assassassin @lemmy.dbzer0.com - 7day

Bees 100%

29
Brave Little Hitachi Wand - 6day

No kidding, bunch of weirdos around here

8
pruwyben - 6day

Now it's just me, and the bees

7
Microw - 5hr

For one, because they're bees. Also, because they're the most distance from the spiders (I have a phobia lol)

1
Scrambled Eggs - 6day

Moths. AKA goth butterflies.

26
dukeofdummies @lemmy.world - 6day

Not only that, the only thing that makes them spooky and startling is that they randomly fly around like a dumbass towards anything light related.

When they're just sitting still being chill they're actually quite adorable.

8
I Cast Fist - 6day

You mean glam butterflies

7
flango @lemmy.eco.br - 5day

Actually butterflies are moths

4
spicy pancake - 6day

outside

22
Red_October [he/him] - 6day

Spoken like someone who’s never had the privilege of holding a pink-toed tarantula’s paw-pad.

5
Evil_Shrubbery - 6day

Maybe outside are the ants, millipedes, and flies that skip lunch bcs they are too cool for school?

3
xxce2AAb @feddit.dk - 7day

1
Druid - 6day

No way. What's their name?

4
LumiNocta @lemmy.zip - 6day

That's a she.

5
GrantUsEyes @lemmy.zip - 6day

Woooah where did you get your tarantula sexing powers? (Sexing them is a tad difficult) :P This one is indeed a female. Care to suggest a name for her?

6
LumiNocta @lemmy.zip - 6day

Eloise sounds kinda charming.

She's a bit bulkier than a male judging from the photo. Ofc it could also be true for some males but it was a solid guess ngl. She's gorgeous tho.

5
GrantUsEyes @lemmy.zip - 6day

Nice name suggestion!

As far as I'm aware, males get the lanky look after they reach maturity and molt for the last time, since feeding stops being a priority for them; pedipalps also change and thats an sure sign of a mature male T. I think they are indistinguishable before that?

This one was actually pretty skinny when that pic was taken since she had recently molted . So far all of my mature T's have turned out to be females so... Maybe I don't have keen eyes ti spot the males.

4
AlpacaChariot @lemmy.world - 6day

I've never seen cactus fruit like that before, initially I thought it was a joke image and someone had taken a cactus and put a blueberry on each needle or something. Wild.

3
GrantUsEyes @lemmy.zip - 6day

Oh it's real, I promise. But it's an endemic plant, not well known outside the region; that's why I attached some pics ;). Not your typical catus fruit.

2
littlewonder @lemmy.world - 6day

Saguaro

Guy Fieri (she's got those frosted tips)

Keepin it botannical, good suggestion.

My bad, that's the flash reflecting on the urticating hairs. under mormal light conditions those leg segments look just the tiniest bit lighter that the upper leg.

Bees because bees are usually pretty chill and I like chill. Especially the bumblebees.

15
Troy - 6day

Tangent, there is a fun fantasy book series by Adrian Tchaikovsky where all the main characters are humanoids with bug qualities. So basically spiderman, antman, mantisman, etc. It is entertaining when you mix fantasy tropes (dueling for honour!) with mantis arm spikes...

14
phaedrus - 6day

The Insect-kindens! And it is quite a lengthy series, at that, if anyone is looking for something new to get into (not to mention he actually finishes series, unlike another fantasy writer...)

Shadows of the Apt & Tales of the Apt

4
Celestial6370 @programming.dev - 6day

My first thought was Patrick Rothfuss but I think you are referring to Martin. I'm sure the list is long of unfinished fantasy series, whichever book you are waiting for I hope your year is 2026!

2
phaedrus - 6day

Indeed, I was referring to Martin. I'm not holding my breath, as there are supposed to be two more books, but perhaps at least one will appear at some point!

2
Troy - 6day

I actually only read the first four. Felt like a natural stopping point there. Pretty cool series though :)

1
Thorry @feddit.org - 6day

Adrian Tchaikovsky also has the Children of Time series in which spiders are the main characters. A very fun read!

4
Diddlydee @feddit.uk - 6day

Moths every time. It's not even close.

13
Blackmist @feddit.uk - 6day

At one of those empty tables

11
fascicle @leminal.space - 7day

I would definitely want to be friends with the mantises in case they go postal one day

11
SubArcticTundra @lemmy.ml - 6day

They definitely look the most stylish

5
stephen01king - 6day

Mantises even eat their own partners. How safe do you think being friends with them will be?

4
Evil_Shrubbery - 6day

Listen, nobody knows what happened to Stacey's boyfriend's head, it's just an unsolved mystery, ok!!
(Don't look in the lunch box.)

5
MyTurtleSwimsUpsideDown - 6day

Lol. We run on opposite wavelengths. If the mantises go postal I want to be as far away as possible.

4
deltaspawn0040 @lemmy.zip - 6day

At one of the tables without giant bugs occupying all the seats

10
Thelsim - 6day

I wouldn’t dare to sit here as a human. I’m too big and would probably squish them all by accident.

But if I got to choose to be one, I’d go for the spiders. You get:

  • two extra legs over the rest
  • your own supply of crafting materials
  • lots of eyes
  • and a cozy place to relax in
10
skooma_king - 6day

Mantises. Fuck aphids

10
Pat_Riot @lemmy.today - 6day

I have a decent relationship with mantids already. I'd sit with them.

9
Victor - 6day

Love how you snuck in the correction there. Classy 👌 Have my up vote. ❤️✌️

2
glibg @lemmy.ca - 6day

The moths table for the vibes, but the seat closest to the spiders to get in on their jokes.

9
Saryn @lemmy.world - 6day

Everyone knows that anyone who knows anything about anything would go for the most evolutionary diverse group - spiders.

There is nothing these little guys can't do. Fly over hundreds of kilometres? You got it. Extend their nervous systems several thousand times past their body area using web? Check. Biological hydraulic system? Yup. Jump 10 to 50 times their body lenght? No problem. Live underwater using silk made diving suit? You bet your sweet behind. Paralyze your body after one bite? Easy.

9
Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In @lemmy.world - 6day

None of this makes me want to share a table with them.

6
mech @feddit.org - 5day

At a table by myself, with everyone making fun of my laughably low number of legs

9
Sunsofold @lemmings.world - 5day

I'm staying out. At that size, many of those are just terrifying, even if they are cool when much smaller than me.

8
psud @aussie.zone - 5hr

What makes you think they're big? I assumed the cafeteria was small

1
Evil_Shrubbery - 6day

Idk, I feel like the colourful ones would group a bit differently.

The popular high-fashion ones (orchid mantis, jumping spider, rosy maple moth) would be at one table, goths (bumblebee, tarantula) at the other, jocks are already together (beetles, tho ladybug prob carries a knife), goodly two-shoes nerds (bees) also, other spiders are obv commuter nerds, ...

Anyway, I would skip lunch bcs this feels like a way too social situation.

8
hOrni @lemmy.world - 6day

I will sit under the lightbulb and wait for the moths to join me.

8
QuinnyCoded @sh.itjust.works - 6day

i think Id make a pretty moth :)

8
burntbacon @discuss.tchncs.de - 6day

I think I'd go with the moths. Least likely to kill me.

7
Natanox - 6day

LÖMP!

7
unexposedhazard @discuss.tchncs.de - 6day

Unless you are a piece of shit, because then the beetles will ragdoll roll you around until you are a nice sphere of shit.

6
Evil_Shrubbery - 6day

(How do I plan such a funeral for myself?)

7
BigBenis @lemmy.world - 6day

Bees. So long as I stay on their good side they're chill and they'll protect me from the other options that want to eat me.

6
Laukidh @infosec.pub - 7day

I would sit down at an empty table and it would turn out to be the Bees’

6
TrackinDaKraken - 6day

Outside, against the wall, alone. At least that's where I sat in high school. So, maybe with the wasps?

5
anakin78z @lemmy.world - 5day

Mantises. I love those things. We like to find them in the garden and sometimes pick them up and let them crawl all over us.

4
d00ery @lemmy.world - 5day

As a person from a sensible country without praying mantis running freely around outside in nature, this has very much changed my opinion on them!

3
gamis44 @lemmy.myserv.one - 6day

spiders 🤤

4
Butterbee (She/Her) - 6day

I'm already sitting with the bees

4
√𝛂𝛋𝛆 - 7day

Sweet girl kisses, and hope I stay on their good side. Plus they kinda look like flying sports bikes.

4
BurnedDonutHole @ani.social - 6day

Mantises

4
ouRKaoS @lemmy.today - 6day

I'd be at the oddball table with the roly poly, millipede & dragonfly...

4
wolframhydroxide @sh.itjust.works - 6day

Dragonflies are likely to be with the mantids at the "we will rip your head off if we like you, you don't want to know what we do to our enemies" table.

5
ouRKaoS @lemmy.today - 6day

I imagine dragonflies as the "enforcer nerd"; they hang with the weird kids as both companions and security.

1
wolframhydroxide @sh.itjust.works - 6day

Fair enough

1
Rcklsabndn @sh.itjust.works - 6day

As far away from the moths as possible. Too chaotic and irrational for me.

4
Digestive_Biscuit @feddit.uk - 6day

Where's the wasp table!?

3
Agent641 @lemmy.world - 5day

They are doing meth in the toilets

6
booty [he/him] - 6day

Fuck, that's a hard choice. I'm either sitting with moth gang or spider gang, but the bees are a great choice too.

3
Annoyed_🦀 - 6day

Bees or moth, chance of dying is significantly smaller compare to the rest of the group.

3
YiddishMcSquidish @lemmy.today - 6day

Mantids. I just think they're neat!

3
FatVegan @leminal.space - 5day

Spider gang, no doubt

1
Nightwatch Admin - 5day

Bees, beetles and moths are fine (wasps are much less so btw), and spiders catch flies and mosquitoes, so yes them too.

1
Bishop_Owl [none/use name] - 6day

With the mantids and wondering where the phasmids are.

1
Empricorn @feddit.nl - 6day

In the Control Center, making sure to nuke them from space. I know these are all statistically not aggressive, but I just can't shake the instinctive impulse to eradicate them...
