Rare intersex spider among new species discovered in Thailand

https://phys.org/news/2025-10-rare-intersex-spider-species-thailand.html

Gynandromorphs are rare organisms that are half-male and half-female, where each side of the body presents differently, split right down the middle. Gynandromorphs are distinct from hermaphrodites in that hermaphrodite organisms still have bilateral symmetry and naturally have both sex organs. Hermaphroditism is common in some organisms, while gynandromorphism is much rarer.

I dont like to reinforce stereotypes but the pattern detecting part of my brain does notice a big one in this post title.

Does that help?

Are there a lot of spiders intersex people in Thailand?

I feel like I've heard of a trans sex worker stereotype related to there, but that's the closest I can think of.

Its not really a species of gynandromorphs though. They just found one amongst the new species. Which is still incredibly rare, but the title makes it sound like the entire species consists of gymandromorphs.
