Yup, it is commonly known as wasp nest slime mold. Definitely the coolest looking slime mold I've seen.

I'd say the first photo is about 1' across and maybe 8" or so for the second.

I took all of these with an old Olympus E-M1 mk1 with the 12-50mm f/3.5-6.3 lens on macro mode which is 43mm. I took them at f11 with a flash. The close ups on the wasp nest slime mold was taken with the same lens but with 26mm of extension tubes added. Some of the DOF was gained back with post processing.
