Side note, I thought the thumbnail was a crime scene photo at first. Looks like the top of a guy's head.

I'm not sure yet, since im not 100% on the id i may find some good trees to spread it around after i do more homework on it.
The pictures don't do justice to the iridescence of the cap

The app tells right on the screenshot, that you have to use your own brain for any choice, but it really helped me with identification many times. Feeding it your photos gave me the same result. The app is "Picture Mushroom":https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/da7d57ce-6c87-4216-9921-ca9c903f350b.jpeg

INaturalist said the same and i think i read through the mushroom picture site. INaturalist also let others ID your pictures so hopefully I'll get more confirmation.

Maybe it's the lighting but that spore print looks more brown than pink.
Otherwise it looks enough like P. Petasatus IMO.

The print is brown but very thick, even in the thinner areas i don't see pink.

Hm I guess petasatus just has browner spores than most Pluteus, the spore print here looks similar.

It came from the dirt path/storm overflow in the woods. Surrounded by living and downed trees.
jared in mycology
Possibly "scaly shield" (Pluteus petasatus)
Cool! What are you going to do with it?
