Yeah for sure, adding a rice grain helps you set up a little food chain. Bacteria start to break down the rice and reproduce, and not only are those guys fun to look at, but also the bigger dudes that live off eating them now reproduce more too.
Give your sample a few days and you'll hopefully have a bunch more fellas to look at. But be careful too many fellas in a closed container will use up all the oxygen.
