As part of the efforts of the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity to strengthen the development of the country's municipalities, this Wednesday it delivered the second batch of 248 pieces of construction machinery and trucks, coming from Belarus to the municipalities, through the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure (MTI).

The lot includes 93 dump trucks, 62 water tankers, 58 front loaders and 35 garbage collection trucks.

These teams will be providing their services in 139 municipalities in Nicaragua to strengthen the infrastructure for the construction and maintenance of roads, cleaning, and municipal roads.

With this second batch, 376 machines will have been delivered out of a total of 712 that the Sandinista government plans to deliver. The remaining 336 machines are already en route, and the government expects to receive them this December and in the first quarter of 2026.

The handover ceremony was presided over by Comrade Laureano Ortega Murillo, Presidential Advisor for the Promotion of Investments, Trade and International Cooperation; Retired General Óscar Mojica, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure; Mayor of Managua, Reyna Rueda; Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus, Mr. Vitali Barchuk and Comrade Wendy Morales, Attorney General of Justice.

Retired General Óscar Mojica, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, stated that the Sandinista Good Government began this program of delivering supplies in June 2024, in order to strengthen the response capacity of municipal governments to promote the construction of roads and streets of the road network and other works for the benefit of the population.

"This second batch of machinery will significantly impact the development of municipal economies, as it will allow them to penetrate areas of high productive potential and high value for local development with infrastructure projects, contributing to the expansion of agro-industry, tourism, commerce and agricultural production," said the Minister.

He added that these teams will also contribute to the cleaning and beautification of 139 municipalities in 15 departments and two Autonomous Regions of the Caribbean of Nicaragua.

"These machines are tools of opportunity that will strengthen the foundations of a more prosperous, better connected and more resilient future for Nicaraguan families," he said.

Admiration, respect, and unconditional treatment

For his part, Comrade Laureano Ortega Murillo, Presidential Advisor for the Promotion of Investments, Trade and International Cooperation, conveyed the fraternal greetings of Co-Presidents Commander Daniel Ortega and Comrade Rosario Murillo to our brother, comrade and President of the Republic of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko , to his people and government.

“Our deepest respect, admiration, brotherhood and gratitude for opening the doors to us, opening our arms, for this fraternal, supportive cooperation, framed within equal treatment, respectful treatment, without conditions and for the benefit of both peoples and governments ,” he asserted.

“We are extremely pleased, dear brother Ambassador Barchuk, to be receiving this large batch of machinery that will strengthen the maintenance and upkeep of our streets and cities, our cleanliness and order, and help maintain the good life of the Nicaraguan people, a people who live in peace and tranquility and who have a government that ensures the maintenance of national, municipal, and community infrastructure in a dignified state so that our children, our adults, the elderly, all Nicaraguans can enjoy this beautiful country that God has given us,” he added.

The Presidential Advisor stated that they are deeply grateful to Belarus for what has been achieved so far and for their continued work.

Furthermore, he noted that they are working with the brothers of the Belarusian Development Bank to expand these credit lines, thanks to the guidance of President Lukashenko and the Co-Presidents of Nicaragua, which allows the introduction of this machinery for the care and maintenance of cities, streets and infrastructure and the projection of Belarusian technologies from Nicaragua to the entire Central American market.

“We will continue working with our brothers from Belarus in all the fields of cooperation that we have set for ourselves within the framework of our joint intergovernmental commission that works for the benefit of our peoples, to strengthen and reinforce the relations of brotherhood and to continue in this strategic alliance in the struggle for a better world,” said Ortega Murillo.

More than 30 years of cooperation

The Ambassador of Belarus stated that his country considers cooperation with Nicaragua to be one of the most important aspects of its foreign policy in the Latin American and Central American region.

“Thanks to the traditionally friendly relations, cooperation between our countries has been steadily developing for over 30 years and has become especially active in recent years. The number of mutual visits has increased enormously, resulting in trade agreements for the supply of hundreds of units of municipal and specialized road construction loading equipment,” the Ambassador noted.

He mentioned that warranty and post-warranty services are planned, as well as training for local specialists.

Barchuk indicated that this second batch of 248 vehicles being delivered consists of 190 MAZ equipment units and 58 Amkodor units, noting that all are designed for use in tropical areas taking into account the high humidity climatic conditions in Nicaragua.

“Of course, our active and mutually beneficial cooperation will continue. I am confident that the equipment manufactured in Belarus will serve you for many years, delight consumers with its safety and quality, and make its modest contribution to the development of your country's economy and the well-being of the friendly Nicaraguan people ,” Barchuk stated.
