Burkina Faso: The City Management Center commits to providing quality housing for the population. This center was created in 1987 during the Revolution led by Thomas Sankara and it now continues.

Ouagadougou, Dec. 3, 2025 (AIB) – The City Management Center (CEGECI), responsible for building the Rimkiéta City whose foundation stone was laid on Wednesday, has expressed its desire to offer the population modern, accessible and sustainable housing.

"The City Management Center (CEGECI), in line with the government's housing policy, is working to provide people with modern, accessible and sustainable housing," said CEGECI's Director General, Ms. Gon Tali Martine Ky, while reading the speech of the Minister of Urban Planning and Housing, Mikaïlou Sidibé.

According to Ms. Gon, the Rimkiéta City of Hope construction project, led by her structure in district 8, is valued at 3.3 billion FCFA with a completion time of 24 months.

The Director General of CEGECI spoke on Wednesday in Rimkiéta during the laying of the foundation stone by the Minister in charge of Housing, in the presence of members of the government, customary and religious authorities as well as a large crowd that came for the occasion.

The buildings will be erected on an area of ​​8.4 hectares in Nonghin, in sector 35 of Ouagadougou. They will include, in particular, 6 residential buildings of R+3, 1 commercial building of R+2, 1 commercial building, 66 apartments, 42 common areas, a parking lot for cars and motorcycles, among other infrastructure.

The head of CEGECI explained that the City of Hope in Rimkiéta is a concrete illustration of the vision of the highest authorities in the country, who intend to offer decent housing that meets the needs of the population, while promoting economic and social development.

According to her, the project's objectives include reducing the deficit of decent housing in the capital, creating economic opportunities through commercial infrastructure, and strengthening social cohesion through a modern and dignified living environment.

“I would like to acknowledge the essential role of Coris Bank International, which is supporting CEGECI in financing this project. This strategic partnership shows that synergy between public and private institutions is essential to meeting the challenge of housing and urban development,” she said.

Ms. Gon Tali Martine Ky also invited all Burkinabe, both inside the country and in the diaspora, to fully support the project and benefit from it.

The president of the special delegation (PDS) of the 8th district of Ouagadougou, Halidou Congo, for his part thanked CEGECI for its vision and commitment to decent housing in his district.

“Not so long ago, CEGECI initiated a project to build a city in Bassinko. Today, we are laying the first stone of the City of Hope in Rimkiéta,” he said.

According to Mr. Congo, the construction of this city will further boost local economic activity while confirming the special delegation's willingness to support CEGECI in achieving the expected results.

Created in 1987 during the Revolution led by Captain Thomas Sankara, CEGECI aims to provide access to decent and suitable housing for Burkinabe people, focusing on the development, construction and enhancement of residential areas and infrastructure.
