He recalled that the first socialist revolution shared extensive knowledge with Nicaragua , which trained thousands of Nicaraguans who traveled to the island during the first stage of the Sandinista Popular Revolution.
"More than 10,000 of us went to Cuba for training, and we had the opportunity to be close to Commander Fidel. It was a source of pride for us to have shared time with him, who cared about each and every one of us, about every student, about every step, about every process, about food, about culture, sports, training, and above all about his country—such a great concern, such an important and revolutionary struggle ," said the vice-rector.
The Cuban Ambassador to Nicaragua stated that "it is the legacy of a revolutionary's life who dedicated himself entirely to the development of a project in Cuba, but who radiated from its very beginnings that solidarity, that anti-imperialism, that devotion to social justice since the triumph of the Cuban Revolution ."
For his part, Douglas Lara, president of the National Union of Students of Nicaragua , Unen, stated that the new generations of students have a firm commitment to the defense of the homeland and sovereignty.
" We have a youth committed to our nation's project, committed to our revolutions , and every day they grow stronger and we remember a man who leaves us an example of loyalty and love for his people, like Commander Fidel, who is an example for all these new generations," he said.
"We young people are preparing ourselves for the challenges of the future that we face in each of our nations. These are great achievements in our country, great achievements at the international level, and we know that Cuba will continue to prevail, Cuba will overcome the blockade, Cuba will continue to grow and develop , and here we Nicaraguans are as a brotherly people giving continuity to the values taught to us by our supreme leaders, Commander Daniel and Commander Fidel ," Lara said.
During the conference, the life of Commander Fidel Castro was commemorated , who from a very young age assumed a commitment to the defense of the Cuban population.
" Fidel commanded the Guerrilla Movement in Sierra Maestra; he is the Fidel who, from 1956 to 1959, remained armed to bring about the overthrow of Batista's dictatorship; he is the Fidel who was later in the defense of Playa Girón ; he is the Fidel of the revolutionary organizations integrated into the Political Alliance of the Popular Left Movement , and he went on to establish the second communist party in Cuba; but he is also the Fidel who resists the criminal blockade of the imperialists, who still resists, and he is the Fidel of a people in solidarity," the historian summarized.
The meeting concluded with the presentation of awards to music groups, dance groups, young athletes, and environmentalists.
