Chile: Mapuche leader accuses Boric of militarizing Wallmapu and reviving the repressive doctrine of the dictatorship

From the Biobío Penitentiary in Concepción, Héctor Llaitul, spokesperson and leader of the Coordinadora Arauco Malleco (CAM) , gave a powerful interview in which he warned about the offensive of the Chilean far right, which, according to his analysis, is marked by deep-seated racism and colonialism. Sentenced to 23 years in prison, Llaitul not only addressed the possibility of a pardon and the repressive policies of Gabriel Boric's government, but also projected a bleak future for Wallmapu if the elite of German descent consolidates presidential power.

Llaitul characterizes the right-wing candidates of German origin, José Antonio Kast, Johannes Kaiser, and Evelyn Matthei, as figures who reaffirm a "capitalist state of a profoundly racist and colonial nature." According to the Mapuche leader, they represent the business interests that seek to "perpetuate their power with an absolute system that subjects us to greater colonialism" in Wallmapu, a territory historically usurped by settlers.

The CAM spokesperson recalled the violent process of colonial occupation that began after the "Pacification of Araucanía" in 1881, when the Chilean state ceded ancestral Mapuche lands to settlers, primarily Germans. He denounced that the descendants of these settlers not only possess vast tracts of land dedicated to forestry today, but also promote extractive projects, from breweries to wind farms and Green Hydrogen projects, which threaten the ecosystem (all forms of life) and seek the "ideological, cultural, political, and doctrinal domination" of his people.

In analyzing the security policies implemented under the Boric administration, Llaitul is critical, stating that this administration has "most mistreated the Mapuche cause." He denounces the increased repression, the unconditional support for economic groups, and the militarization of Wallmapu through the State of Emergency. In his view, these policies represent a "reconversion of the national security doctrine" inherited from the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet (1973-1990), which is now being used for the systematic criminalization of social protest and legitimate Mapuche resistance.

Internationally, Llaitul called for continental solidarity, condemning what he considers a "veritable declaration of war" by the U.S. against Venezuela . He asserts that U.S. strategic interests are seeking a military invasion to seize Venezuelan oil , and extends his "strongest solidarity with the Venezuelan people" and their organizations, seeing this threat as a risk to all the Indigenous peoples and nations of Abya Yala.

Finally, regarding the Mapuche resistance, Llaitul affirmed that the struggle for the reconstruction of the Mapuche Nation "does not stop ." The movement is resuming "with renewed vigor" the policy of territorial control, committing itself to fight relentlessly against the extractive projects that persist with the plundering of sacred territories. The autonomist and revolutionary struggle, he maintained, will continue to be the foundation for the defense of Ñuque Mapu (Mother Earth).

Is Boric trying to throw the election for left wing candidate? Like I'd genuinely be convinced his "Libertarian Socialist" ass is trying to backstab any real Socialist momentum in the country with every news repoet I've read of him.
