The vessel, which is number 867 of the People's Liberation Army Navy of the People's Republic of China, will provide consultations and surgeries, according to the specialties it brings to Nicaragua, for the benefit of families.
Army General Julio César Avilés Castillo, Commander-in-Chief of the Nicaraguan Army, conveyed greetings from the Co-Presidency of the Republic and Co-Supreme Command of the Army, Commander Daniel Ortega and his wife Rosario Murillo, to all those present at the ceremony welcoming the important vessel.
"Today it is a great honor for Nicaragua and for all Nicaraguans to be the first Latin American country to receive this Hospital Ship that bears the name of the Silk Road Ark, belonging to the Navy of the People's Liberation Army of the sister People's Republic of China," he said.
Avilés highlighted that this "Hospital Ship is here to carry out this historic exchange visit with a humanitarian character with the Nicaraguan Army and, above all, to provide highly qualified medical care to the population, together with doctors from our country."
