Energy, oil, gas, and gold are resources that Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado offered to the global business elite gathered in Miami, Florida, as she outlined a massive privatization plan that she promises to implement should she come to power.

Mexico City, November 6 (SinEmbargo) – María Corina Machado , the Venezuelan opposition leader , announced yesterday a “massive privatization program ” that includes offering the foreign market not only her country’s natural resources, such as oil and gas , but also its energy industry , gold , and infrastructure . Machado’s ambitious project comes amid growing tensions between Venezuela, led by Nicolás Maduro , and the United States government , headed by Donald Trump .

"We will open Venezuela to foreign investment. I'm talking about a $1.7 trillion opportunity, not only in oil and gas , which you know is one of the opportunities because we will open up the entire process of exploration, production, transportation, and refining, but also in gold , infrastructure , and energy . Our electrical grid right now has an energy potential of 17 megawatts," Machado explained in a speech at the America Business Forum held in Miami , Florida .

Speaking to the business elite, the opposition leader, recently awarded the Nobel Peace Prize—an award that drew a barrage of criticism—explained that her program for Venezuela includes "security" guarantees for investors. She asserted that the country will become the new global frontier of innovation and wealth creation.

"This is going to be huge because we will promote the rule of law, open up markets, provide security for foreign investment, and have a massive and transparent privatization program that is waiting for you," she explained.

María Corina recalled that Chavismo refused to agree to an orderly transition and said that the President of the United States, Donald Trump, is doing the right thing to lead Venezuela to a democratic transition.

"President Trump's strategy [to combat] this narco-terrorist criminal structure is absolutely correct because Nicolás Maduro is not a legitimate Head of State. He is the head of a narco-terrorist structure that has declared war on the Venezuelan people and the democratic nations throughout the region," she emphasized.

She also reiterated that after his eventual rise to power, during the first 100 days, she would focus on releasing political prisoners, as well as restoring economic order and guaranteeing the safety of the opposition.

“In the first 100 days, we must take control, ensure our own protection, secure our borders, and free all political prisoners. The first 100 days will focus on providing fuel, security, medicine, and restoring economic order,” she promised.

Trump stated this week, during an interview on CBS 's "60 Minutes ," that he believes Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro's days are numbered, but downplayed fears of an imminent war against the South American country.

In recent months, the Venezuelan government has insisted that Trump's military operations in the Caribbean are not aimed at curbing drug trafficking, but rather at pressuring for regime change. For this reason, it has deployed troops and is training thousands of citizens in low-income neighborhoods for potential territorial defense.
