Chile: Fascist candidate Johannes Kaiser promises to pardon military personnel convicted of crimes against humanity during the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet
The presidential candidate of the National Libertarian Party (PNL), Johannes Kaiser, promised to pardon former military officers convicted of crimes against humanity during the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet (1973-1990).
In a presidential debate organized by the Chilean Broadcasters Association (Archi) and watched by more than 4 million people, Kaiser stated: “I am going to close the 73-90 chapter definitively (…). I am going to close the chapter for everyone.”
He referred to the 139 military personnel imprisoned in Punta Peuco , stating that they had been convicted out of "revenge ." When asked about former Colonel Miguel Krassnoff, sentenced to 1,047 years in prison, he replied: "I already told him, I'm going to close this chapter for everyone."
“Enough of this abuse of a supposedly reparative policy, which has not been reparative at all, but pure revenge,” he emphasized. He criticized the reparative policies as “pure revenge” and the National Search Plan for the disappeared , accusing the Communist Party of keeping the issue alive “at the expense of peace in Chile.”
"When there is no justice (...) when hundreds of disappeared detainees are not identified because there is no political interest in doing so. Let's not talk about justice here," he declared.
The context arises after President Gabriel Boric's decision to convert Punta Peuco —inaugurated in 1995 for those convicted of crimes against humanity —into a regular prison: "This is a decision made with the perspective of optimizing resources, but it is also an act of justice. From today onward, in Chile there are no first- and second-class prisoners. And spaces will be distributed according to security criteria and no longer privilege."
"The fact that Chile kept it is unjustifiable," Gabriel Boric stressed .
On November 16, Chile will hold presidential and parliamentary elections. The Chilean Electoral Service (Servel) is making final preparations for the process, in which more than 15 million citizens are called to the polls.
The November elections will determine the next president , the 155 members of parliament, and 23 of the 50 senators. If no candidate obtains 50 percent plus one of the votes, a runoff election will be held on December 14.

pure revenge
proceeds to whitewash the cruel enforcers of pinochet and their crimes
every time, those freaks are still salivating to become "helicopter memes" into a reality again, but we're the "vengeful" now?

It really does feel like an apocalyptic battle for a collective world spirit, right now. I hope we can collectively rally to our cause.

I think that in Latin America we are heading to a similar condition to the past century where popular resistance was met with fascist dictatorship promoted by the US through the School of Americas. However, looking at this from the bright side, the US is weaker than before and not able to maintain all of this hungry tumor like fascists that require endless funding and military aid.

The new Cold War has already started and despite doing everything we can to win it we're still losing even as our opponent doesn't bother to hit back because the best way to win a rigged game is not to play.

The old Cold War never ended.
May it be so.
