All these oligarchs are out there saying this now. Why? Because they know the west will never beat China, and it is 100% THEIR fault. They were the ones that chopped out our production, out innovation, our ability to MAKE anything ourselves, for the sake of profitis, and they will NEVER give up those profits to rebuild it. Thus, they know it's impossible. So what do they do? They go on the news, and spout to everyone the obvious, and by admitting it in this way, it makes it appear to the average person that it ISN'T their fault. "Cautions the U.S. it could lose its advantage" shifts blame from them. "Don't look at us, were are just the innocent billionaires doing out jobs as CEOs, if the government didn't want us to spend the past 7 decades gutting US production for the sake of our off shore bank accounts, then all the officials we bought should have done something about it."
It's the equivalent of serial rapist saying, "Tisk, tisk, the police really should have done a better job at stopping me from raping." But also the police are in on it and get a little raping in themselves, but have a nice little union to protect them from actual repercussions.
