How much of what's on lemmy is actual advertising or bots? Head over to world and you've got all these people who are clearly just reposting mainstream media articles on schedule, not even RSS ones

Its a perfect representation of german public spaces. This is 1 to 1 what german social life looks like imo. If you're happy on world, you'll likely thrive in germany.

I hate it, as you can imagine.

I expect most of the content is organic just because Lemmy is too small of a community for astroturfers to bother with seriously. After the original reddit exodus happened, world ended up becoming the mainstream lib instance, and hence why it looks like a circlejerk of mainstream liberal media. I imagine it's just people just have a routine going through news at the same time every day, I kind of do that myself as well to be honest. It doesn't necessarily men there's anything malicious happening.

there's no advertising in here - first of all

second - the bots here serve a purpose of not only being public RSS but of spreading awareness of youtube alternative links.

just reposting mainstream media articles on schedule, not even RSS ones

What's the difference to you?

mistermodal @lemmy.ml - 2mon

Oh I wasn't talking shit about this instance. I mean the wider users of this platform. I put it here since this is where the deprogram and stuff is

It seems to me the biggest reason is if something isn't showing up in someone's feed that's already been posted, they post it so we end up seeing the same things reposted as federation catches up with each federated instance.

Here msm gets posted because people who lurk here without posting can't accept anything that isn't that, maybe. And maybe also for criticism. But I'm not sure about either, this is just my personal guess.

Turns out blocking a few choice people who were also mods and every "funny" sub made /r/all awesome I was being a crybaby!
