With the aim of creating spaces for exchange on the trends and challenges of contemporary leftist movements and the new narratives prevailing in communication, the 3rd International Meeting of Theoretical Publications of Leftist Parties and Movements will take place starting this Wednesday, as well as the 1st Granma-Rebelde International Festival, starting next Friday, October 17.

The details of the International Meeting of Theoretical Publications of Left-Wing Parties and Movements were announced at a press conference by Luis Morlote Rivas, an official of the Ideological Department of the Party's Central Committee and director of Cuba Socialista magazine. The magazine is organizing the international event, co-sponsored by the Network in Defense of Humanity and Casa de las Américas.

The meeting will bring together intellectuals from more than 30 countries at the Ñico López Party University, including Ignacio Ramonet, Fernando Buen Abad Domínguez, and Isabel Monal, as well as high-level delegations from communist parties such as Vietnam and China.

"The event is a collective effort to strengthen the theoretical foundations that underpin the struggles for equality, solidarity, and democracy," said Morlote Rivas.

Meanwhile, Havana's Estación Cultural venue, located at Línea and 18th Streets, will host the 1st Granma-Rebelde International Festival. As Granma newspaper director Yoerky Sánchez Cuellar emphasized at the press conference, it will be "a people's festival," with which Cuba joins the European leftist festival movement, but with its own unique stamp, providing an opportunity for national and international artists and demonstrating support for the Venezuelan people.

The events will include the unveiling of a mural dedicated to the resistance and a tour of more than 35 Cuban and international media booths . Highlights include the painting of the Mural of Dignity, dedicated to the blockade, and the panel "Fidel in the Press, the Leader Who Wrote His History," commented Yuniel Labacena Romero, director of Juventud Rebelde . He also noted that more than 17 media outlets will make special presentations at the event.

The three days of the festival will be enlivened by concerts, including one on Political Song by the Arnaldo y su Talismán orchestra, and the closing performance by Adalberto Álvarez y su Son.

Both events are part of the program commemorating the centennial of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz and pay tribute to the 60th anniversary of the founding of the newspapers Granma and Juventud Rebelde . The organizers emphasized that the Granma-Rebelde International Festival is a public and open space that aspires to establish itself as an essential event for the committed journalism that these times demand.
