Mosque firebombed in Sussex with people inside, leaving community in shock

“We are relieved that despite the damage to the front entrance and a parked vehicle, the individuals inside managed to escape without physical injury. We fully support the statement of the volunteer who stressed that this could have been a much greater tragedy.”

Sussex Police Detective Superintendent Karrie Bohanna said: “This is a fast-moving investigation, and we are urging anyone with relevant information to report it to us.”

She added: “We understand the concerns this has caused within the community, and the impact that will be felt by the Muslim community as a result.

“Sussex Police takes a zero-tolerance approach to hate crime and there is no place for hate across the county."

Fundraisers have been set up to help repair the mosque, which serves the wider area with up to 500 worshippers at Friday prayers. “The entire premises are damaged up to the worshipping area. We are worried that people won’t be able to pray,” said the trustee. There are no other major mosques in the immediate area.

He praised the volunteer who had been inside the mosque when the attack occurred, and said the community was rallying around his family. “The person affected, he’s a great hero…In a way them being inside and coming out was really good,” as the attackers then fled.

The attack comes days after two people were killed in an attack on a synagogue in Manchester, one by a lone attacker, Jihad al-Shamie, who was shot dead by police. Police also mistakenly shot dead one of the congregants at the scene.

Phil Rosenberg, president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, said in a statement: “We utterly condemn what appears to have been an arson attack on a mosque in Peacehaven.

“Every community has the right to worship free of fear. We are better than this.”

Broadcaster and commentator Narender Kaur responded to the attack, writing on X (formerly known as Twitter): “Seeing the real intention behind all ‘Raise the colours’ flags on the A259 unfurl as Peacehaven mosque is firebombed.

“Burning a mosque is terrorism, full stop. If leaders can swiftly condemn a synagogue attack, they must do the same here.”

Another example of Europeans performing pograms against the modern "undesirable" population.

They were crying about "won't these genocide (ie pro-palestinian) protesters give it a rest (from protesting)" following the synagogue murders out of supposed respect for Jewish peoples and now watch the relative silence. Not to mention that the former is a deeply anti-semitic take since one is implicitly saying that any attacks on Jewish people is directly an attack against Israel's genocide; it's almost as if Europeans/Brits consider Jewish identity valid only if they act as fascist cop for the imperial cores - outside that they resort to their favourite anti-semitic slogan: "self-hating jew".

Addendum - I have no evidence for this but it is a remarkable coincidence that the syrian (read potentially anti-assad wahhabist takfiri groomed by british/American intelligence) happened to be shot by the police in a country where they aren't so gun-happy like the US.

The "Pro-Rebel" Syrian diaspora are such an infuriating phenomenon to observe. They are served the brunt of western Islamaphobia yet still dutifully support the West's geopolitical ambitions out of pure sectarian hatred stirred by Qatar and the Persian Gulf States.

I'd be entirely unsurprised if one of them was a victim here, as the bigotry against Syrian Arabs has never dulled among Europeans from what I've noticed.

Sometimes I think I am gaining traction when I point out how Al-Jazeera lied about Gaddaffi but then it is quickly undone by whatever is the latest trend in the next news cycle. Western diaspora (whichever ethncitiy) can be sometimes absolute fickle trash.
