πŸ‡¨πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¨πŸ‡³| 13th Meeting of Cuba-China Joint Working Group on Biotechnology will be held in Wuhan, with +80 Chinese companies & institutions.

In the coming days, we will hold the 13th Meeting of the Cuba-China Joint Biotechnology Working Group, with the participation of more than 80 Chinese companies and institutions in Wuhan.

For years, Cuba and China have strengthened their partnership in this sector through the Cuba-China Joint Biotechnology Working Group, a mechanism that has proven highly effective. This group, chaired by BioCubaFarma and China's National Development and Reform Commission, has specialized subcommittees in Health, Industry, Science and Technology, Regulatory Affairs, and Agricultural Biotechnology.

For this framework, in addition to the evaluation and monitoring of agreements and projects, a portfolio of 32 R&D projects has been prepared, selected from among some 400 for their innovation and high impact on global health. More than 40 counterparts have expressed interest in these projects, marking a significant milestone in bilateral relations. It will revolutionize the biotechnology alliance between the two countries, making a difference in the future, as it will enable joint research and development work on highly innovative projects aimed at addressing major health problems: oncological, cardiovascular, autoimmune, infectious, neurodegenerative diseases, among others.

This cooperation model is evolving. Initially, Cuba contributed technology (knowledge), while China contributed infrastructure and financial resources. Today, this relationship has evolved toward a more balanced complementarity, where both parties contribute strengths in research and development. A key principle is the sharing of intellectual property, which ensures that the benefits of innovation and trade agreements are mutual.

This collaboration not only benefits the Cuban and Chinese markets but also aims to have a global impact. With a portfolio of innovative projects and solid business models, we are forging a path that makes us more independent from the pressures of transnational corporations and the blockade that affects one of the industries that has the greatest impact on our country, both economically and on the health of our population.
