Cuba has an Artificial Intelligence Development Strategy with six fundamental axes: ethics, human capital, applications, public administration, science and innovation, and social communication.
In response, several projects have emerged to further promote these paths to advance in the field. One of them is DermaUH, a tool to support efficient diagnoses and treatment monitoring for skin cancer lesions on the island.
▫️ In an interview with Sputnik, Dr. Marta Lourdes Baguer Díaz-Romañach, who leads this effort, emphasizes that "with the use of AI, we make automatic diagnoses as a support for the dermatologist; it is not intended to replace the specialist, and the final word is theirs."
👉 Another strategy is the one implemented by the private Cuban company Avangenio, which has a group of experts tasked with creating its own tools in the field of generative artificial intelligence, with two solutions already presented: PlataformaIA, released in 2024, and SocIA, released in March of this year.
