The speaker of Iran's parliament affirms that by leveraging Iran's capabilities to cooperate with Cuba, bilateral agreements can be finalized and implemented.

Mohamed Baqer Qalibaf and his Cuban counterpart, the head of the Cuban National Assembly, Juan Esteban Lazo Hernández, met and held talks on economic cooperation on the sidelines of the Sixth Conference of World Parliament Speakers held in Geneva, Switzerland.

In the meeting held Wednesday evening, Qalibaf positively assessed the potential for cooperation between Iran and Cuba in various fields, especially in the economic sphere, and stressed that joint economic commissions between the two countries should be implemented as soon as possible.

"There are good opportunities in this area, which can be realized and achieved through the implementation of agreements between the two countries," said the head of the Iranian legislature, referring to the Islamic Republic of Iran's capacity for joint cooperation with Cuba.

Regarding the 12-day conflict within the Zionist regime that erupted on June 13, the Iranian legislator also highlighted and expressed gratitude for Cuba's clear stance toward Iran, as well as its condemnation of the aggressive actions of the Israeli regime and the United States.

In turn, the head of the Cuban National Assembly emphasized that the latest destabilizing and tension-generating action by the United States was the attack against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The senior Cuban legislator emphasized that recent events in West Asia and North Africa show that the Americans are trying to secure their interests through the use of force.

Given this situation, stressing that Cuba will spare no effort to implement international laws and end the genocide in Gaza, he added that, in this context, the Islamic Republic of Iran can also count on Cuba's support in the face of unilateral US sanctions.

In closing, the Cuban legislator called for expediting "the improvement of bilateral cooperation between Cuba and the Islamic Republic of Iran."

Since the triumph of Iran's Islamic Revolution in 1979, Havana and Tehran have maintained a strategic alliance and bilateral cooperation ties in energy, housing, trade, industry, education, agriculture, science and technology, and culture, among other sectors.

Both countries have supported each other in various circumstances and condemned the aggressive measures of US imperialism against them.
