What a good read. Anarchists I know are victims of abuses of power, thus they extrapolate their experiences to all hierarchies. I'm never sure how to speak to them about this without causing them distress. Opinions on things like these don't change overnight, though.

Thanks, and yeah I've noticed that as well. People start seeing hierarchies as the problem, but these are just cognitive tools that help us manage complexity and scale. I find that starting from the problems solved by hierarchies helps because then you can lead people to understand that they will necessarily form even within flat power structures. Except that's going to be worse because now there's no accountability or checks and balances in place that would've existed had these structures been created intentionally.
