Chimney Swift

The chimney swift is a bird belonging to the swift family Apodidae. A member of the genus Chaetura, it is closely related to both Vaux's swift and Chapman's swift; in the past, the three were sometimes considered to be conspecific. It has no subspecies. Chimney Swifts give a fast, twittering series of high-pitched chip notes, about 3 seconds long. In flight the chips can be so close together that they become a buzzy, insect-like twitter. In other situations the chips can be spaced nearly a half-second apart. When approached by intruders near the nest, adult Chimney Swifts spring backward and snap their wings together loudly several times. Here is a link so you can listen to this cute little bird!!!
