The Nicaraguan government inaugurates a Regional Hemodialysis Center in Estelí. It will offer more than 86,000 free treatments per year, expanding specialized coverage for kidney disease.
The Health System continues to expand its specialized care capacity with the inauguration of the Flor de Pino Regional Hemodialysis Center in Estelí , a modern facility that will allow 86,400 hemodialysis sessions per year to be performed on patients from Jinotega, Matagalpa, Nueva Segovia, Madriz and Estelí.
This new center becomes one of the most complete in the region, with 100 armchairs distributed in two fully air-conditioned rooms , designed to offer comfort and safety during each session.
In addition, it has a spacious waiting area, changing rooms for patients, and a nursing station equipped to provide timely and quality care.
"As a patient, this is good news. I'll be treated more comfortably and quickly. This care elsewhere costs between $3 and $4, but the central government is providing it to us free of charge," said Isidro Cáceres, a patient.
Better care for patients in Estelí
One of its most notable features is its specialized water purification and preparation system , an essential technology for ensuring the effectiveness and safety of hemodialysis treatment . In addition, it includes storage tanks, a central warehouse, and a potable water well that guarantee a continuous supply.
The center is also backed up by a high-capacity electric generator. This allows all essential areas to remain operational in the event of any emergency, preventing interruptions in patient treatments, as patients depend on this vital service.
"The goal is to serve 100 people per session, that is, 300 daily . We have state-of-the-art equipment and highly trained staff to provide quality care, as is being done ," said Jeny Mayela Blandón, director of the San Juan de Dios Teaching Hospital in Estelí.
Furthermore, with this important project, health authorities reaffirm their commitment to strengthening medical care for families in the north of the country, bringing specialized services closer and improving the quality of life for thousands of people who require hemodialysis on a permanent basis.
