Burkina Faso delivers five new socio-economic and community infrastructure projects for the Kénédougou province. This projects will help to strengthen social cohesion and stimulate local development.

The municipality of Koloko, in the Kénédougou province, officially received five new socio-economic and community infrastructure projects on the morning of Friday, December 5, 2025. Built by Interpeace and its partners, these projects are part of a broader effort to strengthen social cohesion and stimulate local development.

  • Water is now available at the health center

These five infrastructures were designed in response to the needs expressed by the people of Koloko. Four of them are dedicated to the agricultural and livestock sector, a key area for the local economy. These include a modern poultry farming center and an autonomous water point (PEA) for the benefit of the women of the village of Sifarasso, a local product processing unit, and a mini drinking water supply system (AEPS).

On the community side, Interpeace has rehabilitated several buildings in the town's medical center and built new infrastructure, including an isolation building and an incinerator, among other things, in order to strengthen local health capacities.

  • The local people welcomed these infrastructures with joy.

The construction of these structures is part of the cross-border project between Mali and Burkina Faso entitled: "Brick by Brick: Strengthening Social Cohesion and Preventing Conflicts on the Mali-Burkina Faso Border ." This project is supported technically and financially by the Patrip Foundation.

At this official handover ceremony, Weniba Christelle Sonia Mantoro, Senior Programme Manager at Interpeace, expressed her satisfaction at supporting the communities of Koloko.

"Our wish is that these infrastructures contribute to the local development of the municipality ," she said, also inviting the beneficiaries to ensure optimal management to guarantee their sustainability.

Representing the governor of Guiriko, the High Commissioner of Kénédougou, Saïdou Sakira, welcomed this initiative, which he deemed "beneficial." According to him, these achievements will contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of the entire province.

The beneficiaries, for their part, did not hide their satisfaction. They thanked Interpeace and its partners for these actions which, according to them, will give new impetus to the development of the Koloko commune.
