> "Israel’s" devastating genocidal war on Gaza has left the enclave buried under an unprecedented volume of rubble, with the UN warning that clearing the destruction, now estimated at 68 million tons, will take years, require vast resources, and depend heavily on Israeli political approval.

According to a new report highlighted by The Wall Street Journal, satellite assessments by the UN show that more than 123,000 buildings across the Gaza Strip have been destroyed and another 75,000 damaged, amounting to 81% of all structures.

The debris is not only enormous in quantity but also hazardous. UN agencies say it is mixed with thousands of pieces of unexploded Israeli ordnance left in homes, streets, and residential towers, an enduring threat that continues to injure civilians, particularly children.

Heavy machinery is only one part of the challenge. Contractors in Gaza charge roughly $23 per ton to remove debris, and the total reconstruction cost, estimated by the UN at $70 billion, remains unfunded
