SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — On a recent afternoon, Giselle Garcia, a volunteer who has been helping an Afghan family resettle, drove the father to a check-in with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. She warned him and his family to prepare for the worst.
The moment the father stepped into the ICE office in California’s capital city, he was arrested.
Coming just days after the shooting of two National Guard troops by an Afghan national suspect, federal authorities have carried out increased arrests of Afghans in the U.S., immigration lawyers say as Afghans both in and outside the country have come under intense scrutiny by immigration officials.
They had fled Afghanistan under threat by the Taliban because the wife’s father had assisted the U.S. military, and they had asked for asylum at the U.S.-Mexico border, Garcia said. She is not identifying him or his family for fear other members could be arrested.

There's a part of me that's ashamed to watch this happening, even though I voted against it.
It's one thing when an illegal immigrant is caught and deported. It's another thing entirely when someone in the US legally, who helped our country fight a war (granted, one we should never have started nor fought to begin with) and was promised peace and safety, is outright betrayed and, presumably, intended to be handed over to a murderous regime.
I am not a billionaire nor a federal legislator, so I have no meaningful power to do anything apart from lying to ICE when they knock on my door looking for someone. But, as a human being, it feels important to observe and speak on the injustice here.

we're stuck in this self-fulfilling propaganda loop where voting for either of the american duopoly party enables this kind of injustice where it can only be delayed at best, unless we start voting 3rd party.
the masses reporting on it wo proposing or advocating for change is encouraging people to check out instead of taking action because it makes this systemic problem seem too big to fix.

How unfortunate it is to betray your country then be betrayed by who you betrayed your country for. To be fair I didn't expect that the US will lose to the Emirate of Afghanistan, in 2001 it looked like the US was obviously going to win and establish a friendly government that will last for a long time.
The Emirate of Afghanistan should offer amnesty for those who were deceived by the US and the Republic of Afghanistan puppets.
