Do you brush your teeth in the shower or the sink?
I wonder what is the ratio of wet vs dry brushers.

Brush teeth during the pre-rinse cycle
10

Yeah while I'm wetting my hair and while I'm washing the shampoo out of my hair
6
owenfromcanada @lemmy.ca - 1mon
Seems dangerous to open your mouth while rinsing shampoo. I too like to live life on the edge.
3

ClassifiedPancake @discuss.tchncs.de - 1mon
Why would I brush them in the shower? Itโs so much wasted water and you donโt even save time wtf
19
redhorsejacket @lemmy.world - 1mon
I typically turn the water off if I'm brushing in the shower. Hop in, shampoo, rinse, apply conditioner, turn off water, brush teeth, scrub body, turn water on, rinse, done. Makes use of otherwise dead time I'd spend waiting for the conditioner to work, and is comfortable enough with the residual heat from the walls and steam.
13
ClassifiedPancake @discuss.tchncs.de - 1mon
Ok that makes sense. Since I don't use conditioner I don't have any wait time in the shower.
6
ayush - 1mon
I do the same thing as @redhorsejacket@lemmy.world - except I wait for shampoo to work. I read that shampoo takes 4-6 minutes to work. I then confirmed this with 2 dermatologists. This is especially important if someone is using anti-dandruff shampoo.
5
Godort - 1mon
I used to brush in the shower back in my early 20s. Then one time when I went to spit, it landed right on my dick.
Toothpaste is an unexpectedly uncomfortable feeling, so now it's sink only.

Pudutr0n - 1mon

I got a beesting right on my penis once, and the only thing that helped was a compress of baking-soda based toothpaste. It does, indeed, feel weird and uncomfortable, but it beats the hell out of an itchy, painful beesting.
3
Mouselemming @sh.itjust.works - 1mon
Sink. I'd be wasting all that shower water I'm not actively washing with, or I'd be shivering with the water turned to a trickle. When I brush at the sink, I only need to wet the brush, and turn off the tap until I'm ready to rinse.
16
Vanth - 1mon
Sink. I brush my teeth twice a day. Brushing only when I shower would be revolting.
15
Bell @lemmy.world - 1mon
Shower. I do it while the conditioner is "working".
14
GregorGizeh @lemmy.zip - 1mon
Shower in the morning, sink in the evening
Pros:
if you are in a rush you can save time by scrubbing yourself and brushing simultaneously
any spills are washed away immediately, leaves the sink clean of toothpaste splatter
you get to stand under the nice warm water for a few extra minutes instead of standing in front of the sink, staring at your tired self in the mirror while doing your brushing regimen
Cons:
apparently women don't really care for the concept so be aware of that lol

I've never even considered brushing my teeth under the shower? That seems unnecessary and impractical imo. I shower ever other day usually and I brush my teeth at least twice a day, but currently 4 times a day due to braces. I don't see how these 2 things align in terms of planning?
10
Bongles @lemmy.zip - 1mon
Despite what a dentist might say, I imagine most people still brush once a day. I grew up doing that and had no cavities or other issues.
2
gerryflap @feddit.nl - 1mon
Really? That would surprise me a lot. Maybe it's a cultural difference, I'm not sure where you're from. I can't imagine that the majority of the people I know only brush once a day, I've never noticed anyone deviating from the normal morning/evening pattern. But I also haven't really paid much attention so maybe I just haven't noticed. How do people do that? I tend to notice quite quickly that I forgot toe brush because it feels yucky.
1
Bongles @lemmy.zip - 1mon
You know what, I'm not exactly surveying people regularly so I could be wrong. Maybe it's from when I was growing up (it's not exactly a common conversation as an adult) that I get that impression.
As for the teeth, I've never noticed it feeling off unless I've missed a whole day, but I've kept to brushing once a day (short of special occasions that you'd want to brush right before something in addition to your regular brushing) so I might not be tuned into that.

What kind of maniac would keep their toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and whatnot in the shower? (Or even worse, carry them into the shower, wash their teeth, shower with only one hand while awkwardly holding onto them with the other, awkwardly dry themselves using only one hand, and then store them back next to the sink where they belong?)
1
RoquetteQueen @sh.itjust.works - 1mon
I keep a toothbrush and bottle of toothpaste in the shower because I have atrocious ADHD and that is the only place I ever remember to brush them. It's literally the one lifehack that I've tried that has actually worked. I've been doing it for a couple years now and I finally brush my teeth every day after struggling for my entire life.
