How can we prime Americans for a general strike?

Chicago Mayor, Brandon Johnson called for a general strike on Saturday during the No Kings Protest. It is the first time I can remember an American politician said the words in support of general strike out loud.

I think the best way to pave the way for revolution is to prime the country for a general strike.

In order to really accomplish the task, we need to get people independent of their jobs and depending on large corporations. This would require making sure people have their medications. Making sure there's an alternative way to get access to food. Making sure people are armed and trained in the use of firearms. How could we address the need for gasoline?

I know this is an enormous task, but it will take that level of organizing to really get a general strike off the ground.

The UAW has timed all their major contracts to end on May Day 2028 and has called for others to do the same to prepare for a general strike. Can’t find the link but some teachers unions did with their contacts as well.

That may be a bit far out but it’s also the most planning I’ve seen for a general strike in the US.

Repeal the Taft Hartley Act would be a start

i was going to say something to this end; coordinated strikes are illegal in the united states.

They can't arrest all of us. That for sure would result in a rebellion.

the lasts 3 protests i've been to make me wonder if enough people would show up to make arresting everyone a problem.

2 of them were put on by union; both had fewer than 2 dozen people; one of them was in a library conference room.
