I think that kind of belief in an afterlife definitely influences the xtian view of climate change. And the "let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth." stuff doesn't help.
When I was a young xtian I saw the above quote more as a call to husbandry; take care of this stuff because you are responsible for it.

Too bad their god book didn't explicitly make paradise contingent on the good steward bit. Not that they'd give a shit even if it did.
