While this situation was definitely what I had growing up, it’s not my current situation.
My husband and I went Christmas shopping together. He did most of the wrapping. He’s cooking Christmas dinner.
We opened Christmas presents this morning and then I got a nap on the couch while he played with the three year old and our dog.
We usually do a pretty good job of splitting things around the house - especially since we both work.

A lot of it is just who he is.
We’ve always split things. He’ll do dishes and fold laundry. I do most of the other household chores. He does the outside stuff. He does the cooking. I do most of the child stuff. He does the dog stuff. But we can switch and swap as needed. It’s always been a partnership.

I'm a 66 year old fat man, and I've been doing the Christmas decorations and holiday dinner for my family for decades. This year, as a change, I made baby back rips, took two day to do them.
Although I will admit I took task over when mom died 30 some years about. I will also admit she was better at it. She would start baking cookies right after thanksgiving and would create an astounding array. I have her old cook books, but not her stamina

Even after all these year, I really miss my mom.
