I wasn't sure where to put this, but it's meta to Lemmy/Piefed so I figured this is as good a place as any.
I've noticed a trend of certain posters submitting several threads or even copies of the same thread back to back. Sometimes they're all about the same topic, sometimes they're different, but it seems like some people do all their posting at once. The result is usually something like 7 or 8 threads in my feed from the same person back to back, often with all of them being just images. So like, 8 images of cakes in a row or whatever.
Does anyone else find this obnoxious? I personally tend to block people who post this way so they don't show up in my feed, but I'm wondering if it's just me. It seems like poor etiquette to me, but I'm curious if I'm alone in this.

I'm just grateful for anyone posting on whatever way is convenient for them. In such a small community, we need all we can get. Except ml propaganda

Yes.

It's a little annoying, but they are in different communities/instances which don't necessarily all interact and not everyone is browsing from a globally collated feed, so I just scroll past and get on with my life.

Only if it is low effort trash indistinguishable from spam.
One poster puts up a ton of historical and other clever images in bursts but each one is unique and interesting so they are a net benefit.
Volume and frequency are not nearly as important for me as whether it is interesting.

Yeah, there are a small handful of posters I don't block that do this because their posts are good. I do wish they'd space it out but it is what it is.
Most of the time though it's just a dozen images I don't care about.

Would it matter if it was a dozen people who posted the exact same posts in the same time frame?

Yeah, I mean, that's kind of obnoxious too. It's a little different though, because it's not one person whose routine is just to flood the feed all at once. If it's 12 different people that's just a coincidence. Or a broken cluster of botfarm accounts maybe.

I don't care... easy to scroll right past them.

As someone who has been on a bit of a posting spree - life is busy, I post when I have time. It's the holidays so now I have more time to get through a backlog of content and share what I find interesting.
I'm not a bot. I'm not scheduling my posts to have the most impact. I'm not here to optimize your feed.
If you feel like you're seeing too much of the same content, please post more to drown it out. My opinion: Lemmy/PieFed needs more contributors, not fewer.

Making the problem worse isn't a solution.
My opinion: Lemmy/PieFed needs more contributors, not fewer.
I think many people would disagree, it needs better content, not more.

Honestly, Lemmy posts aren't terrible if you curate them from a wider pool. It means I'll catch topics that I might not otherwise because I don't like getting wrapped up in social media. I look at it more as something to scroll through that's customizable. I don't comment a huge amount and I very rarely post on any of my accounts.
I'm also not at all shy about using the block button on this account, though, and it's been a better experience. If there's something showing up in my feed that I'm not interested in seeing, it's easy to filter it out. Blahaj has a good mix of defederations so it's a good start on its own, and Piefed is great for being able to block communities, instances, and users. If I'm remembering piefed correctly I think I also have some title word blocks set up too.
If I want to see more I can always switch to another account, but I find I generally like this better.
There definitely is a lot of petty argumentative one-upmanship in the comments, and a lot of what seem like just hired trolls, but it's easy to avoid the comments and it's easy to not engage with people.

Where are you seeing that? Your subscribed communities feed, or all? If subscribed, are you subscribed to the "same" community on different instances?

Well, I assume people who do it think it's fine. I can also always check from another account if I get curious.

I do this because I post largely educational content about a niche subject. I post before I go to work, and everything people have questions about, I can reply to them largely throughout my day when I have long spells of downtime while the machines I work with are busy running. Then at night I'm busy living my life and finding some things to share over the upcoming days.
It keeps me able to keep a very popular community alive while not consuming my whole life.
I only ever post a max of 4 or maybe 5 things if I've just got too much to share.

Huh. I never thought this would be a problem for anyone. I do this. I’ll just hit a point where I feel like I should contribute, dig around for a variety of hopefully interesting news articles that don’t appear to have been shared yet and post a half-dozen or more to a few different c/.

I can't stand certain people I can't block because of how much they change instances, (looking at you cm002) like it's always seems to be a lot of people just posting links to news sites of varies kinds and just post the link with the title and no matter how much I block the communities and people they keep on coming up.

I only block when it's like >15 and seems like I will get it a lot more when scrolling down. If it's only like twice and I reply, I copyoaste my reply to the other one as well 😛

I've seen people complain about this before and I don't get it. Is it because I have lemmy.world filtered from my home feed? Would I be annoyed if I could see posts from there?
