TBH, my initial reaction was pretty similar to yours. I mean even ignoring the asshole self-righteousness of immediately judging someone's weight without knowing them as a person (and thus the challenges they may be dealing with), at that age most people are having too many health issues to justify being judgemental in that fashion. Particularly so when you consider that at the time this guy grew up we didn't have the understanding we have today (let alone level of public education) regarding how the human body worked.
But given what this person choose to do to others, I also realized that such disrespect was well-earned. So, yeah - i went with the joke instead. I'm sorry that offended you because I agree with where you're coming from, but in this particular case I'm not sorry for doing it as this guy was obviously an asshole in being so manipulative as to start an organization like this. IMHO he therefore disserves all the disrespect he's gotten (and then some).

This just sends the message that the validity of marginalized identities is conditional on the folks with those identities aligning with your beliefs, which is a double standard. You don't body shame someone in good shape because you disagree with their beliefs, you challenge and make fun of them on the basis of their beliefs.
Why should marginalized folks have to work any harder, on the basis of their identity alone, to earn equal standing with what you personally deem to be normal? This just gives away that you see these folks as "other" and only support them as far as they can personally benefit you.
And to be clear, I'm not just talking about fat people. Would you make dehumanizing jokes about Candace Owens or Clarence Thomas on the basis of their race? Why's it acceptable, then, to attack queer conservatives on the basis of being queer, or this guy for being fat? Why degrade your allyship just to go for low hanging fruit? Don't we want these things to become so normal that they cease to be questioned by even the most conservative parts of society?

Idk I'm kinda getting sick of this Lemmy bullshit, its not just you that's making these jokes. I'm not gonna say I'm more principled than you... but aren't we anti death penalty? I struggle to find where death > prison, skinny or fat. It might just be a personal preference that wanton death should be avoided, let him pay for his crimes with hard time. But I guess I've never been molested so maybe I should defer my opinion to someone that he molested. I know he is guilty unlike some death row inmates. I get we want to revolt so maybe I'm too weak to kill another person (lol its reminding me of Ruthlessness from Epic, where Odysseus spares the Cyclops and Poseidon wreaks havoc and tries to kill his crew - definitely not applicable but the theme of killing another to spare our lives is the vibe I get)

You went way off into the deep end.
No death penalty, the guy voluntarily refused to listen to the best practices during a pandemic.
That's as close to a suicide as you can get. But in the dumbest most round-about way.
Which by itself would be sad. But he did his best to influence others to do the same.
So fuck him, his legacy and everything he stood for.

Not to mention you're a .world and not even .ml it's a surprising stance. Maybe be less tankie?
Hahaha weight jokes are funny and dont cause any harm to anyone who is overweight. Let's keep making fun of fat people because they are fat. Grow up, stop being a bully. I was thinking of a friend that committed suicide the week before graduating high school because she was laughed at for her weight. There's millions of other things to make fun of about a repubtard but make fun of his ideas and not his weight.

Where did they write or imply fat is healthy?
10
SanctimoniousApe @lemmings.world - 16hr
Being fat is a symptom of mental stress. Do you honestly think you're helping by piling on to that stress?
Those people you mention that claim being fat is healthy are obviously trying to cope with their stress. They're trying to find a way to feel "normal" despite all the external attacks on their person. Deep down they know the truth, but they can't deal with that until they deal with what got them there first. They need to fix the foundation of their problems before they can fix the additional damages it caused.

Shame can also be a motivator, it has an evolutionary role.
Being overweight is a series of choices. Not an immutable characteristic.
I’m a hard determinist, so I empathise with your viewpoint and it has merit, however, if you believe in free will, you believe the person has some agency.
3
causepix @lemmy.ml - 11hr
Trust me, no fat person needs your help to feel ashamed of themselves. Whether it's actually the case or not that there would be no other motivation to not be fat if there was no shame associated with it.
Also what difference does it make to you if someone else is fat?? It's literally none of your business, why make it into a problem that needs solving?

“Montgomery met Kirk when the latter was 18, after hearing Kirk speak at a small college.[4] Montgomery has been described as Kirk's mentor, including by advising him to start Turning Point USA rather than attend college.”
These sorts of organisations always tend to be founded by rich, but not particularly persuasive individuals. They tend to find someone like Kirk to be the face of the organisation so they can reap the benefits without having to do any of the legwork.
I mean would you be interested in a random 87-year-old's political pronouncements?

Conservatives are anti-abortion, so a karmic death from that would be dying before or at childbirth because of being unable to abort.
I think the irony could be the third founder being a pro life woman dying during an clandestine abortion.

The intro is JD and the casting couch.
Like, just him and couch, and its framed as if the Couch is a person, got the cuts of the 'prior to meeting' interviews, the Couch is just a couch, JD is badly acting at being enthusiastic, as he normally is.
Cut to Erica as bad cop detaining Usha as she returns to her own home. She already has the keys, so she decides to detain Usha in the sex dungeon, located under a trap door near the outdoor stone/brick pizza oven.
Finished casting the casting couch, unaware either Erica or Usha are home, JD now hungers for cheese pizza, walks over to the backyard pizza oven... notices the trapdoor ajar.
He then walks in on Erica BDSM torturing Usha. JD is equipped with all holster, no pants.
JD begins to lecture Erica on the rights of the accused, Erica refuses to cease cruel and unusual punishment, JD is forced to draw down on Erica.
But he has a Sig P320, so, in their scuffle, it does an uncommanded discharge, which domes Erica.

Not really when the topic at hand is Charlie Kirk and the guy that gave him a bunch of money to skip college and start TPUSA.
Aside from that, Bari Weiss does not own CBS. She was given her position by someone who can just as easily take it away, because whoever actually owns CBS decided it was convenient to their interests.
