I think the Hunts are well aware that with Mahomes likely having less than 10 years left in his career, that their window to go for this monstrous cash grab was closing rapidly. We on the Missouri side voted it down because the plan was shit. We weren't given a number as to the cost, and estimates were between 3 and 6 billion, which most of us think should be benefiting schools and local services and not a billionaire, and the Chiefs never drew up a community benefits agreement. To add insult to injury here, there's something like seven years left on the lease and several years left to pay off the renovation of Arrowhead that's less than 20 years old.
From where we were sitting, it looked like they just wanted a blank check with no meaningful responsibilities to the locals. And the rubes on the Kansas side gave it to them.
Jackson County spent 60 years making the Hunts rich and they're still unimaginably greedy, so I say good fucking riddance.

TBH, I'm very glad to see Missouri tell billionaire freeloaders and grifters to fuck off again.

Agreed.
Anyone who has been to Arrowhead in the last 20 years knows damn well that it remains a beautiful and amazing stadium. If there were going to be ANY changes to it, they should be to the area around it, IMHO.
And fuck the Hunts. Their greed, disloyalty, and learning that at least one of them is a fascist, has really changed my opinion of them.

That's all super disappointing to hear. While I've never been to Arrowhead, it's an iconic place with a lot of history. Not fun to see it abandoned when it really doesn't sound like it needs to be.

It's true.
Literally just an opportunistic cash grab from an entitled billionaire.

Making poor financial decisions is very on brand for the Kansas State government.

Well it’s a good thing there’s also a city called Kansas City in Kansas. In fact, it’s the same city.

I hate seeing all these open stadiums being replaced by domes. Love a snowy game!
