Long ago humans used to struggle with nutrition and caloric intake. Both too much and too little were dangerous. Now we have synthose, a sugar which expands only as much as your body needs it, while retaining a consistently sweet taste regardless of the caloric density

Yes, but they are imperfect and perhaps unhealthy as well. I was trying to hit something more akin to synthehol's weird perfection, its alcohol that gets you inebriated but has no ill health effects and can be dismissed at will. Artificial sweeteners are rine, but lack the super science of Trek
