DrSleepless - 4mon

They didn’t turn on her, they supported humans.

They're not mutually exclusive statements. They did both.

One person in this situation is treating other people poorly.

One being infinitely more important than the other.

Love this

None of the main stars, yet

Ralph Fiennes, who played Potter villain Lord Voldemort, came to the author's defence, calling the abuse she received "disgusting" and "appalling".

Other stars including Eddie Izzard and Helena Bonham Carter, who played Bellatrix Lestrange, have also said they do not consider Rowling's views to be transphobic, but reflective of her own experience of abuse.

Very disappointing, but pretty funny that only the villains support her

What the fuck, Eddie Izzard?! I had to look up if it was the same Eddie Izzard, who now also goes by Suzy.

Yep, that Eddie Izzard. Fuck.

Yeah, she’s gender-fluid and uses fem pronouns, so my guess is that she just really wasn’t expecting an old lady (jkr) to get real hate about it and she’d like the discourse to be more polite. Still fucked up, but I can’t understand it any other way.

Fuck. I hate discovering that actors whos movies I previously enjoyed, are in fact assholes.

Helena Bonham Carter did some great stuff.

Too bad, so long demon barber of fleet street.

Awesome, good to know, and happy to hear it! I just meant only one of the people pictured in the post's thumbnail (Cho Chang) actually signed the letter the article is about

MisterOwl @lemmy.world - 4mon

Of course not. Rich people stick together.

you've missed some context on how long Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, and Daniel Ratclif have been speaking out that they don't support JK Rowling, how they're going to spend their royalties from those films, and that trans men are men and trans women are women.

I knew Luna would understand me...
I love you, Luna!

Zorque @lemmy.world - 4mon

Is Evanna one of the ones who signed the letter? She's supported Rowling in the past (specifically for her stance on trans rights) and it doesn't specifically state she signed in the linked article.

happydoors @lemmy.world - 4mon

I support a large crew and actors who worked on this speaking up in the modern age. More celebrities need to do this across the whole spectrum.

11
Rothe - 4mon

While continuing to star in a project which will eventually fund anti-trans organisations.

Steve Dice - 4mon

I get that you're some kind of transcendental entity not bound by linear time but the rest of us mortals sadly have to follow causality.

33
Jorunn (she/her) - 4mon

They don't?

21
madjo - 4mon

Sadly none of the actors of the upcoming tv show have signed on. So they will still have blood on their hands.

People like Nick Frost, John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Paul Whitehouse, Katherine Parkinson. They haven't signed that solidarity letter.

11
HappyFrog - 4mon

Paapa Essiedu has signed it. He's going to play Snape. However, I didn't see any other actor when I searched through.

9
madjo - 4mon

In that case, I fully agree with @Rothe@piefed.social

4
HappyFrog - 4mon

Me too, just wanted to clarify that among the actors listed on wikipedia, only Snape signed the letter. Not a single one else.

3
bomberesque @lemmy.world - 4mon

Fucking right, too

Bitch better keep Hannibal's name and catch phrase out her mouth. I pity the fool that messes with the A Team.
