She absolutely hates him. It's awe-inspiring to see.

99
UnderpantsWeevil @lemmy.world - 6mon

I mean, its genuinely sad to see someone so horrifyingly alienated from her father. I hope she's got other people in her life who can present positive male models of behavior. It would absolutely suck shit to be Elon Musk's child and I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

Vivian had the good fortune to have a cool mom and an extended family/friend network who supported her. Idk how many of Musk's other kids will be that lucky. Certainly Ashley St. Clair's kid is fucked. That child is going to be sheep-dipped in fascism from day one.

SaharaMaleikuhm @feddit.org - 6mon

Ironic, isn't it? What with all their eugenics bs

32
Voroxpete @sh.itjust.works - 6mon

It's actually even more hilarious than that. Musk's kids are all IVF. He pays for sex selection. He only wants male kids. So he spent a stupid amount of money trying to make her a boy, and she turned out a girl anyway.

6
UnderpantsWeevil @lemmy.world - 6mon

The apple can fall pretty far from the tree when the tree spends all its time bouncing across the country between corporate orgies and fascist TED Talks.

Vivian was fortunate enough to have a good, cool mom who raised her to have a sense of self-determination and independence. I doubt Grimes or Ashley St. Clair's kids will be so lucky.

11
Anomalocaris @lemm.ee - 6mon

hate that expression, because the point of edible fruits of for animals to eat then and spread the seeds far from the tree.

like in this case.

2
lemmyknow @lemmy.today - 6mon

Kinda sad that she is often mentioned in relation to that one guy. I don't know lots about her but she seems rather cool from the one interview I watched.

I guess the connection (or lack thereof) is unfortunately needed to get anyone to care, as otherwise it'd be just some random person (and there are plenty of those around).

On the other hand, she do just be someone, like many other someones. She just happens to be linkeable to that one guy, which brings her some more visibility than someone else who might be similar though unique in their own way but with no such connection that'd attract attention

72
slaneesh_is_right @lemmy.org - 6mon

It sucks to be always "just" the cunt's daughter, but on the other hand it's nice to see a reminder that a flower can grow on a pile of shit.

29
captainlezbian @lemmy.world - 6mon

I suspect if she wasn't related to him she'd likely still be one of the iconic trans shitposters. Like, girl has a fucking gift at that. Most people wouldn't know her name, but the sort of people who know Stacy Cay probably would.

12
lemmyknow @lemmy.today - 6mon

Well, gotta count me in the group that would not know her, seeing as I neither know Stacy Cay nor Vivian's shitposting. Just saw one interview I stumbled upon on a random "I'm kinda bored" YouTube search (and maybe some mentions like the one in the post, which bring up her connection (or lack thereof) to some guy)

4
jsomae @lemmy.ml - 6mon

I'm very happy that she is starting to embrace media attention. Every time I see her mentioned it makes me a little happier.

4
DancingBear @midwest.social - 6mon

I mean, one of the best ways to become famous is to have a famous parents…. I mean, name any Hollywood actor

2
ShaggySnacks @lemmy.myserv.one - 6mon

Yeah, the whole reference to another person is quite terrible. However in this case, it's warranted. Ol' Musky Boy hates the fact that he has a trans daughter. It's like sticking a knfe in Ol' Musky Boy and twisting it.

2
lemmyknow @lemmy.today - 6mon

Eh, idk if some guy hating their trans daughter makes it worth basing most mentions of her around said guy. I mean, obviously how she feels should be taken into account. I am not one to speak for her. But I wouldn't do evil onto someone to do evil onto someone else. Not sure I vibe with "it's quite terrible, but justified cuz it hurts someone else" (even if said someone is bad). Especially when it involves doing evil to someone distancing themselves from the other person in some way. Maybe it'd be different if they were complicit

To me Wilson will always be a bloody handprint on a ball, slowly drifting away from a weeping Tom Hanks. Any bad Wilson out there is neutralized by ball boy's goodness.

CileTheSane @lemmy.ca - 6mon

I don't want to be a gate keeper, but can women do drag shows?

7
ameancow @lemmy.world - 6mon

Before it was coopted by the right to mean "child predator" or "deadly threat to everything holy" it was just a style of burlesque show, a whole niche cultural thing that never bothered anyone, open to anyone who wanted to take part.

They had problems with the fact that most performers are males or assigned male at birth, and the whole thing is basically parody of gender norms and style, but embraced rather than hated, and it was just a generally fun time. (Never mind that it's kinda what stage performance has been like across the globe for hundreds or even thousands of years when it comes to gender-bending performances.)

Speaking as a CIS straight male, I have been to a couple shows and don't really get it, it's not my thing, but everyone is having fun and they're being welcoming and happy and sharing a thing together, and it's far more harmless than a million other silly things people do for fun as social groups.

17
SinAdjetivos @lemmy.world - 6mon

Drag is mostly describing a sort of American burlesque inspired thing usually with the connotation of some amount of gender fuckery.

There are drag kings, drag queens and drag everything in betweens.

12
JustAnotherKay @lemmy.world - 6mon

Drag is performance art via exaggeration of feminine aspects of humanity. Doesn't seem exclusive to women to me

10
BubbaGumpsBackLumps @lemmy.world - 6mon

Yes

7
JRush @lemmy.ca - 6mon

People focus on drag queens, but there's also drag KINGS

2
Gladaed @feddit.org - 6mon

Yes, but in the screenshot she does not look like a cliche drag performer. But the headline states she danced there, it does not necessitate he being a drag performer.

He has a lot, I think he had some weird thing for getting people to have children with him

11
Nangijala @feddit.dk - 6mon

The weirdest part is that they are all concieved through IVF and all of them are biologically male, so it isn't even a sex thing for him.

Dude is so fucking weird. Like alien levels of weird. The more you look into his past the weirder it gets.

8
dontbelievethis @sh.itjust.works - 6mon

That weird thing? Money.

2

I was referring to the urge to do so, not the means. But you're not wrong.

On an unrelated note, why is your account marked as a bot?

1
dontbelievethis @sh.itjust.works - 6mon

Did that to myself. In the settings there is a option that says something like "display as bot" which I read as "display bots" so I checked it.
