IDK how to describe WuWa that isn't in the context of the company that made it, the previous games (like PGR, and Genshin Impact) and the differences between 'gacha games' that doesn't sound gacha-rotted to an average person, but it's supposed to be more 'generous', and high graphic compared to Genshin.
Gacha games are just popular because of the time sink and habitual 'dailies' routines when playing games and living the 9 to 5 life, also gambling surges your dopamine lol

They already have the established relationship with GW, and Old World is rapidly gaining on 40k in the internal competition GW has between their settings so 40k needs Juice outside of the boring ass ultramarines release for tabletop in the 500 worlds announcement.* There's no way it isn't Total War: 40k

14
regul [any] - 21hr
It's good, actually.
9
insurgentrat [she/her, it/its] - 20hr
It's fine. It's not that remarkable and will be largely ignored in a few years. It's not a high watermark, it doesn't innovate particularly, it's a well made game that's fine but stays comfortably within the bounds of a genre and focuses on style without tightly integrating it into game systems.
The game's main strength is its artistic direction which is generally very good, although let down by mediocre level design from a mechanics/gameplay perspective. Which is fine. A new studio put out a well made and enjoyable game, I'm not a hater and as a first game (from admittedly very experienced devs) it's an impressive showing.
It's just hardly the best thing in every category released this year. Nobody is going to be talking about it in 5 years. This isn't like hades or something where a studio took something popular and elevated it to heights nobody knew the genre could go to by tightly integrating all aspects of game design with high levels of polish. It's just a good spectacle jrpg.
8
Damarcusart [he/him, comrade/them] - 20hr
It's fine. It's not that remarkable and will be largely ignored in a few years
I've noticed how quickly it's been ignored in a the now. People have said it is good, but it doesn't seem like a game that has stuck with people beyond being more flashy fun game to switch brain off to. Which is fine, but not how a game has lasting impact.
8
insurgentrat [she/her, it/its] - 18hr
There's only so much impact you can have in the genre of "take turns selecting from a menu until you kill god with the power of friendship". It's so well established genre wise and it's difficult to maintain pacing, but it's too constrained to allow players to find their own narrative.
I do want to be clear, it's very pretty and the performances are generally good, gustave especially is done well and the opening is strong but at the end of the day it's like avatar. Pretty, sounds good, no dealbreaking flaws, just very comfortable and safe to the point that it fails to leave a mark beyond "I enjoyed looking at that".
Which is fine but I mean how many awards need to be piled on this thing? In what ways is it particularly distinct from something like ghosts of yotei?

Does Warframe have a lot of capes in it? I feel like it does based on that caped woman.
10
barrbaric [he/him] - 1day
Rather interestingly, there are only like 2-3 proper "capes" in Warframe. The devs generally try to avoid them due to clipping issues and blocking the screeen during typical warframe movement (in particular, the new riftguard one from tennocon this year is fucked). But the Repala (a very basic cape) is consistently one of the most popular premium cosmetics.
what's interesting is that even though there's a bunch of them as cosmetics it's not really a "capes" type of game, npcs and "canon" versions of any given character are usually wearing something else, there's just a bunch as cosmetic options because lmao live service game

Missed this thread, so I'll just leave my impressions here :3
There were some really cool announcements like Orbitals (what an amazing art style, holy shit), new Ace Combat, Coven of the Chicken Foot (cuuuute), new Divinity (was the pig eating vomit really necessary?), Gang of Dragon, No Law, new Control (makes me wanna play the first one), Bradley the Badger, Ontos (this one felt disturbing in a good way) and Tank Rat (looks super fun).
The 40k Total War game would get me hyped to try it if it wasn't being presented by that manipulative piece of shit from Stranger Things that I forgot the name, he's even in the game, ugh.
The SF movie actually looked good? Like how lol. It's still a wreck of a cast, but it looked trashy fun. The MK jab tho was just weird and unfunny.
COTW winning best fighting game? Really? I know that's probably not possible, but it just felt like Saudi Arabia threw money to get the win.
Mario Kart winning best racing game, like eh. All I see about it is complaining, I thought Sonic was gonna win.
New Tomb Raider looked AI, there was too many AI slop in there too. AMD had not 1, but 2 AI ads.
Still, the whole show felt weird and dry. Indie of the year presented during the pre-show? And obviously Exp33 won despite not being fucking indie. It soured me how much both Geoff and the Exp33 crew were pushing hard how they were "indie" during the show. I haven't played the game, and still really want to, but that sucked major ass.
I think the main issue with the show was the order of announcements, some big stuff were presented early, then there were lots of times were there weren't many exciting announcements for long periods of time and the last game presentation was the worst I've ever seen, holy shit. Geoff just talked big about the most generic hero shooter ever made that got no one excited. Almost any other trailer presented at the end would have been better than this shit. But I guess all you have to do is throw some money and you get to have the biggest spot in the show for your generic shooter that is gonna shut down 6 months after release.

"its the times we live in"
kojima boutta decapitate geoff on stage for giving all the awards to expedition 33
worst geoffslop of all time it’s got me negatively polarized against a good game
Geoff just faking everyone out with the intros that keep sounding like HL3
Just building up my meter
Im just here for Total Warhammer 40k
if necrons arent a day one faction im going to complain
I just want my Orkz
You got your shit. Let's go.
Thank you for your support
There you go, nerd lmao
(Warhammer Fantasy stan)
Thanks Im also a Fantasy fan but I have always considered 40k my true love.
If it happens they must be really really hurting for money lol
Its basically the break glass in case of emergency option (but so is Medieval 3)
Like if they deliver on Total Warhammer 40k its gonna make them a fuckton of money.
sega forced them to make a terrible live service shooter that was incredibly expensive and got cancelled so you're not wrong
They also shut down support for their most recent historical title and released all of that planned DLC as a free update in a last ditch effort to make game copy sales. To say nothing of Hyenas.
They already have the established relationship with GW, and Old World is rapidly gaining on 40k in the internal competition GW has between their settings so 40k needs Juice outside of the boring ass ultramarines release for tabletop in the 500 worlds announcement.* There's no way it isn't Total War: 40k
*Edit for the 40k nerds: Votann is pretty cool, forgot about them
Where mechanicus faction, I crave the certainty of steel
Dawn of War 4 will have Mechanicus day 1
E33 did not deserve all those awards, I liked it but better than Silksong AND KCD2 AND DS2? Really?
Cool game announcements though. Geoff announced AC8 so he's safe from me for another year
I'm watching with my friend, we both predicted a Clair Obscur sweep and that's exactly what's happening
rise and shine was control and not half life
aint no way some of yall thought half life 3 was even a possibility. surely you jest
no, that's getting announced tomorrow.
They'll probably save the Half Life 3 trailer for E3 next year. That would be better.
Open Livestream
Immediate greeted by James Bond Lenny Kravitz
Apparently the studio make the new old republic thing was formed 5 months ago lol
Its not gonna be out before the heat death of the universe lol
Im watching total war nerds and they were all collectively putting their heads in microwaves thinking it was a Total War: Star Wars announcement
thats funny, considering like 2 days ago there was a leak that CA hired people for some 40k project.
still lego total war would have been fun
It's obviously 40k, but I also really liked the idea of lego. I played Lego Kingdoms way back in the day.
"We're going to make Tamriel real. We're calling it "Tamreal," coming via Google Stadia 2 UVR (ultra-VR) in 2032"
E33 on stage so much they're running out of shit to say
oh hey did Silly French Game win the GOATY
Teenage angst and a turnbased status based combat system but it's French so it's sexy.
Oh yeah and there's a risk/reward parry system because the game was made after dark souls.
It's good, actually.
I've noticed how quickly it's been ignored in a the now. People have said it is good, but it doesn't seem like a game that has stuck with people beyond being more flashy fun game to switch brain off to. Which is fine, but not how a game has lasting impact.
In what ways is it particularly distinct from something like ghosts of yotei?
ye
Todd howard gave an award to e33
3+3= 6
Elder scrolls 6 confirmed
e33

Half Life 3 confirmed

British studio Creative Assembly really going all-in on the table top British IP provided by Games Workshop aren't they.
that said I'm curious how they'll go about with, i think, their first game that's not based on warfare from and prior the industrial revolution plus the hocus pocus of the wham fantasty they played with. Like they can't do dawn of total war hammer, so it'll be interesting to see what they come up with
Anchoring it with a role played by a freshly cancelled celeb too lol
charlie kirk as the emperor of mankind?
Counting or not counting hivegang violence
They should add the necrons as a base game faction because i like them.
also it kinda looks like it will have space combat in some way
I will probably play it regardless :(
From what I've heard the devs working on it started as the devs for Halo Wars 2, so it's not as outlandish if you look at it from that perspective.
oh so it might look like dawn of war then, well they had to make that eventual departure from their usual dev style i suppose.
Creative Assembly also announced in their showcase a week or so ago that "their next big game" will be on the new engine, so I imagine it will look a bit novel compared to the rest of the franchise
ANOTHER 20 BILLION AWARDS FOR EXPEDITION 33
New Ace Combat and with a PC release
Guy on the boat sounded like Pixy from Ace Combat Zero
Wow . 2 Tomb Raider games. One in 2026 and one in 2027 (not even a Tomb Raider fan but thats kinda cool huh)
So Catalyst looks like a new entry in the Tomb Raider/Rise of the Tomb Raider/Shadow of the Tomb Raider series. The other one looks like an HD remake of the first PS1 game?
I dont think its just an hd remake, its the new engine, entirely rebuilt.
tankrat looks fun as hell, along with the chicken foot lady game. otherwise just a bunch of anime goonerslop and generic third person shooters.
oh! and control 2. fucking PUMPED for that shit
Am I losing it or does Tankrat look identical to Tankhead, which came out earlier this year?
We're actually getting Ace Combat 8 I can't believe it!
My time spent praying and performing dark rituals in my basement all
week2521 days since Ace Combat 7's release paid offLeon’s back baby!
leon you are so old, go home to your family, dude. lol
He said he wants a second opinion though!
French Sw33p at the awards
Whos gonna win best music guys is it gonna be the game that got a solo performance earlier tonight lol
its looking like a
sweep
Larian, warhorse, remedy, and now sandfall
We're living in a euro dominated g*mer industry its so joever man
i blame ubisoft
Ubisoft tried its best to prevent french cultural dominance by making the most dogshit slop games ever unfortunately they couldn't stop their ex devs
Thay divinity trailer was fucking gross. I want to play the game less having seen it
That's kinda what the Divinity series is like. The trailer was turned up to 11, and usually they mix in some dark/absurdist comedy, but they're pretty gorey games.
I've played the divinity series. I've got no issue with gore. This is definitely grosser than usual. Like why am I seeing pigs eat vomit from a nasty as fuck dude eating a turkey leg? I assume it's meant to be humor
the lizard sex was kinda cool, i could do with less vomiting on pigs
Let me know when the Half Life 3 trailer drops
Imagine if they just go straight to 4. Would be unprecedented levels of trolling and they would do it
Make it VR exclusive as well
Thanks Bawma.
OK, Ace Combat is cool.
Distinct lack of pod racers in that star wars racing game.
I actually like the choice to do swoop racing instead of pod racing
Pod racers are cooler because it shows the chariot racing inspiration more as well as making it visibly more dangerous and insane that people on these poor, junker planets are reusing old spaceship engines and strapping themselves to them.
Sure thing, and I played and loved the old pod racing game. I'm just excited to see something new, you know?
Yeah, fair.
It looks like three different classes of vehicles on the logo with pod racers being one of them
"See you guys won
" Geoff also hates Silksong he's just like me fr
Not even one jrpg announced. Im going into withdrawal
Oh my god I'm so tired of star war
Edit: ok I am still tired of star war but BRING BACK DEMOLITION YOU COWARDS
Previous GOTY winner was fr@nch too
Fr*nch kabal confirmed
AYO I HEARD THERE'S A NEW PODRACER GAME?!?
Obscured clare obligatory colon useless subtitle is well made but like it's not that good. Standard combat system, some good art animations and music, tedious level design, annoying "observe the art" character dialogue that was parodied in portal of all things, somewhat creative story.
Idk it wasn't thaaaaaat good. Music sure but huh?
my new conspiracy theory is that the TGA judges were staffed by Daredevil fanatics in a convoluted bid by Marvel/Disney to advertise for the new Daredevil season
::: spoiler spoiler (The English VA for Gustave was Charlie Cox, who plays Daredevil in the Netflix series and now MCU) :::
Was hoping for a trailer or preview of the next FF7 remake and I'm kind of sad one didn't happen.
Honestly surprised it wasn’t there now that you mention it!
hmm i guess i'm not a gamer.. this was boring beyond belief for me. literally not looking forward to anything they showed
cool first award for expedition 33 (best performance)
Ku klux kiramman 2xko tweet went brazy

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:
Does Warframe have a lot of capes in it? I feel like it does based on that caped woman.
Interesting.
2-3 is lowballing it imo, it's true the vast majority of dangly back decorations aren't capes but i'd still call a good 30+ things on this list a "cape" at a glance
what's interesting is that even though there's a bunch of them as cosmetics it's not really a "capes" type of game, npcs and "canon" versions of any given character are usually wearing something else, there's just a bunch as cosmetic options because lmao live service game
joined late but so far seeing a bunch of stuff slated for release in 2027... which is not that exciting to think about
New Megaman 2027 game is getting PS4 and Switch releases. Hell yeah. PS4ever.
link
Some neat looking new IPs, but nothing that really got me hyped. Guess I'm more a Nintendo hog nowadays.
That's what happens in a year with more industry layoffs and game cancellations than ever.
Have they explained that Geoff Keighley tweet or is he just opening a portal to hell?
Teaser for new larian divinity game
I'm glad people are dunking on E33 because I still want to play that game yet and my hype was WAY TOO HIGH, now I know it's not literally everyone's favorite game ever so my expectations are tempered
Missed most of it watching Nutcracker Fantasy.
Did they just ruin Control by turning it into a Souls-like
looks more character action, honestly looks sick
The 2 gameplay genres. Over-the-shoulder 3rd-person shooter and 3rd-person action-combat game with slow animation timings and a dodge roll.
it just looks more melee focused, what are you talking about
Yeah, exactly. You have SCP devices and powers that could be used to make it interesting if they're not going to ever make a game with a new gameplay system, but instead it might just be a guy with a club.
Dylan is even more powerful than Jessie and you think they're going to remove the powers he has and not allow any weirdo devices? Come on.
Melee combat and a guy PC? Not interested
