unmagical @lemmy.ml - 1day

None of those are architects of AI.

Elysia [she/her] - 1day

My enthusiasm for computer science died back when the blockchain grift happened, and there hasn't been a single day American tech "entrepreneurs" haven't been stomping on its grave since then distress

hungrybread [comrade/them] - 16hr

Same, I should have changed majors way back when that was popping off. I could have been a depressed traffic engineer instead of a depressed software "engineer"

Belly_Beanis [he/him] - 15hr

So many of my bad decisions back in college due to depression have ended up being correct. I've been rewarded for poor life choices (switching from CS to painting, not selling my textbooks, etc.).

FumpyAer [any, comrade/them] - 22hr

Yeah, where in the photo are the engineers they hired for millions of dollars salary?

11
LaBellaLotta [any] - 1day

There are so many infuriating things about this but what gets me is that I guarantee none of these whelks have ever been anywhere near a construction site and would certainly never have the spine to actually re-enact the photo this is based on. These are the feeblest and softest people ever produced.

Not there’s anything wrong with being feeble and soft, it just makes the evil and seeming untouchability more galling.

BodyBySisyphus [he/him] - 23hr

It's also funny given that they're all promising to build these massive data centers that haven't even broken ground or are sitting totally empty.

StalinIsMaiWaifu @lemmygrad.ml - 22hr

Memphis wishes

5
mayakovsky [any] - 1day

The slop barons

26
Red_Eclipse [she/her] - 1day

It's funny because I just take it to mean that they're all about to fall off lol

26
Des [she/her, they/them] - 1day

did AI generate this pic? guy on the far right before the cutt off warped asian lady looks like clean cut Seth Rogan

not one single body looks remotely natural

23
9to5 [any, comrade/them] - 1day

Billionaires just look like that

24
LeeeroooyJeeenkiiins [none/use name] - 24hr

remembering when Musk was on a boat and twisted his torso and it was so large and angular and weird looking it looked like a little man could be inside him piloting him like a mech

10
BoxedFenders [any, comrade/them] - 24hr

I don't know how that cropping made it past the editor. It's a huge violation of every photo composition rule, and while you can break it for artistic purposes, you certainly don't cut off one of the recipients of your magazine's most important annual bullshit award.

stink @lemmygrad.ml - 1hr

I think it's Dario Amodei

Anybody got an angle grinder?

17
MayoPete [he/him, comrade/them] - 1day

Best I got is one of these gui

16
hellinkilla [they/them, they/them] - 1day

If someone else has got another we put one at both ends and let them use their "super intelligence" friend to solve the puzzle.

10
ChaosMaterialist [he/him, they/them] - 16hr

funny enough I pulled mine out earlier today

1
Kopfrkingl [comrade/them] - 1day

Who is that guy that looks like a bald hasan with glasses

11
PKMKII [none/use name] - 1day

Demis Hassabis, CEO of DeepMind.

10
hotspur [he/him] - 1day

Not that anything he does is worthy of making a film out of, but when the crash comes and they make retrospective dramas about it, they have to cast Matthew Rhys to play hassabis. Also autocorrect tried to change his name to Hassan’s lol.

7
grandepequeno [he/him] - 23hr

Is this real? It's so fucking ugly

11
ClathrateG [none/use name] - 1day

Frankenstein's Musker?

10
sgtlion [any] - 24hr

In fairness, they designate their person of the year as having had the biggest influence this year "for better or worse". It's not supposed to be an explicit endorsement at least.
