There were people on Hexbear saying this wasn't a color revolution or regime change operation.

The US had been at it since the first Trump administration too. I remember “promoting democracy in Nepal” being mentioned in one of trump’s defense bills that nobody really seemed to talk about.

Guilty as charged. But in my defense, there was an air of legitimacy (I had a lot of friends and acquaintances go to the protests even). agni-pain

This is the fate of every revolution without an agenda. The article should've also mentioned the group that originally staged the protests, which was able to garner support after the power vacuum, is funded by "Free Tibet", and by virtue has neo-liberal ideas (which is what most most middle class youth have anyway — which is what makes up most of these "Gen-Z" groups).

Days later, he was replaced by an interim leader chosen in an anonymous poll which registered fewer than 10,000 votes from Discord accounts.

Political power grows out of the barrel of a Discord group

The biggest thorn on my conscience is the fact that the interim PM was chosen through Discord; even the most legitimate and successful revolt can be derailed if you use that honeypot. It's a perfect shitshow right now with a bazillion "Gen-Z groups" with their vague demands (and, as the article mentions, an army that loves doing the monarchist larp).

Also, apparently Rs. 84 billion (≈ $580 million) worth of damage was accrued.
