There it's a 73% upvote ratio, mods protecting them and locking the thread but not removing it, people calling it out are largely downvoted, and the comments equating them with Satanic Panic goobers ratio them. If a community doesn't condemn something that's otherwise widely condemned, it represents them and primes them to be a self-isolating pipeline for that thing. People who don't want to associate with something this weird unsubscribe or are driven out by the people defending it.

I think that's the largest category of AI image generation overall. Gooners of all stripes just making endless mountains of pinup slop that's just [insert character] with [insert fetish that the AI can actually do], since that's the literal only thing that image generators can do "well". I'd expect the overall distribution to be about the same as with like hentai or other goon slop, with the vast, vast majority being the most generic vanilla pinup slop possible and pedophiles making up a very small but very active minority.

But the AI hobbyist community absolutely has a problem of being too accepting of pedophiles in general and since the literal only purpose for AI image generation is making goon slop anyone who's showing off how well they can get it to churn out SFW images of kids is sus, as is anyone who's up in arms over underage content being censored (or even things like civitai insisting that uploaders maintain at least some plausible deniability when showing off LORAs for child characters).

A big part of the appeal of AI is that it offers an illusion of talking with someone who is flattered by everything you say, but isn't complete enough to push back or assert itself like a real person. It doesn't have the ability to back away from you and ask for some space. Effectively, there is no risk of your interaction going wrong. You go in with a certain intention, you get the reward.

Real people might be real, but they come with the risk of failure and therefore disappointment. I guess this isn't really something to be worried about if you go to some kind of service where someone gets paid to entertain you, but even then, there's a certain fear of interacting with someone who has (if only in theory) the ability to say no.
