What is fanime?
A fanime (etym. blend of fan + anime) is basically when someone makes an anime-style cartoon show by drawing frames in MS Paint; compositing them in Windows Movie Maker with pirated music, stock sound effects, and dialog recorded in one take on potato microphones; and posting the result to YouTube. This isn't necessarily accurate of all fanime, but the throughline is in any case that fanime is a form of democratized amateur animation combining anime aesthetics with "Internet Ugly". The style is most associated with the Western anime fandom of the mid-2000s through mid-2010s, where it was often difficult to distinguish sincere fanime shows from parodies of the genre.
What's the chef cookin' tonight?
Tonight we'll be watching Dagian Drupe's Sakura Ai as well as every 2000s fanime listed on the Fanime Realm website, except Tokyo Crystal Mew and Elemental Goddess because we've already seen them, Magic Heart and the Magical Warriors because it's almost 10 hours long, and Nonsense World because it's pedo shit made by a pedo.
In other words, on top of Sakura Ai we'll also be watching Alfea Chronicles, Akuji Tavarious, Gothic Fuzzles, Guilderland Mew Mew, Illusions Dreams, Strawberry Moon, and Twinkle Girls. Not necessarily in that order.
Due to the brevity of the 22 original videos, I've turned them into a series of eight compilation videos:
≈123 minutes of scheduled content, or just over two hours.
::: spoiler More information on each fanime
Sakura Ai
I can't find a plot description for Sakura Ai but I can if nothing else say that it released in 2008 as Dagian Drupe's first fanime. Drupe would go on to co-create My Jungle Book Your Year, which we've already seen, and after that created Welcome to the Panties Warfront and Rebels Against The School, which we have not yet seen. Sakura Ai has three short episodes totalling to ~13 minutes for the whole series.
Alfea Chronicles
Alfea Chronicles is a 2008 magical girl love comedy fanime created by AngelAiriz, based on Winx Club. It is our first fanime not originally released in English: it was first released in Russian, with an English dub released five days after the Russian version. We'll be watching the English dub. Since the show never continued past its first episode's first part, its runtime is only ~7 minutes. Plot description from Fanime Realm:
Taking place one year after the Winx Club story, Sakura is one of the new magical fairy girls to help save the world. In Episode 1.1, Sakura deals with the usual shenanigans with her friend Raven & totally not-crush Yuki. Towards the end of this episode, Sakura receives a strange note from Yuki, to which even he doesn't know what the note's about.
Akuji Tavarious
Akuji Tavarious is a 2008-2010 mystery fanime created by Kaleidosaur. The titular Akuji Tavarious is a boy attached at birth to a "malevolent curse that killed his parents". Three episodes plus a deleted scene with a total runtime of ~29 minutes.
Gothic Fuzzles
Gothic Fuzzles is a 2007-2009 (or 2008) comedy-drama fanime created by InvaderChibi, who "allegedly" voiced Cookie in Tokyo Crystal Mew. Two episodes with a total runtime of ~16 minutes. Plot descrption from Fanime Realm:
Rei, a young gloomy girl, has her life turned upside-down when Nibika, a Fuzzle Companion, comes into her life to become her "bestest friend". What Rei doesn't know is that she'll be fighting alongside Nibika, against the evil Zuffles.
Guilderland Mew Mew
Guilderland Mew Mew is another magical girl fanime that never progressed past its first episode. Its original release date has been lost but is believed to be circa 2009. Created by Ever After Ashley, Fanime Realm seems to be saying that its plot is just Tokyo Mew Mew with new characters. There are two different versions of the only released episode; I'll be showing the second version, which seems to just be the original version with updated artwork. Runtime is ~4 minutes.
Illusions Dreams
Illusions Dreams is a 2008-2009 magical girl fanime created by Illusions Sama. It is the longest thing I'm showing tonight, with its two episodes adding up to ~32 minutes of fanime goodness. Plot description from Fanime Realm:
The story begins when 4 ordinary girls discover a hidden secret. They were chosen by elements of different types to help save the world. Mai Mi, Tobari, Olivia, and Saphira must all team up and forget some of their differences and help fight the evil in the world that is known as Queen Rose
Fanime Realm also warns that a line in this show "didn't age well", but I have no idea how to interpret that.
Strawberry Moon
Strawberry Moon is a 2009-2010 magical girl comedy fanime created by 11cutie207, and it is our third magical girl fanime not to continue past its first episode. There's a lot of it about, huh? Runtime is ~8 minutes across two parts. Plot description from Fanime Realm:
13 year old Mizuki and her new friend Ichigo are bestowed with super powers by the Guardian Hoshi to fight against the future Angel Witch of Darkness, Kurayami.
Twinkle Girls
Twinkle Girls is a 2009 magical girl parody fanime created by Dagian Drupe (yes, again), and our fourth and last magical girl fanime not to continue past its first episode. Total runtime ~11 minutes. Plot description from Fanime Realm:
Mochi has transferred from Alaska to Japan and has aquatint herself with two other classmates, Dango and Daifuku (though the latter is more threatening towards her). Later a magical talking cat comes in to tell the girls sun is running out of fire which will have the earth be dead. There is a generator to power the sun but the batteries have exploded into the air and scattered all across Japan. There is a need for help to find all three of the batteries so the world will be saved!

You're not the only one to misread fanime as famine constantly
This feels like a threat somehow.
