A chud wrote the worst university essay ever and their trans teacher failed them, but then she went to cry at TPUSA about wokeness and the teacher got put on administrated leave (cw: transphobia)
jesus christ, this nazi country is so fucking illiterate. for anyone playing along at home, 650 words is like a page and a half of 1.5 spacing writing. put another tally down on "everyone is 12 now." it's even obvious just from the stupid TPUSA screenshots on twitter that this woman's essay was trash without even reading it. there's like 10 underlined grammatical or typographical mistakes on every screenshot. i'd be fucking embarrassed to have people associate me forever with some half-assed writing assignment i got triggered by in a college course. not to mention the prose is terrible and fails to engage with anything academic in any way. off rip, it's "God this" and "God that," nothing at all to do with empirically rigorous argumentation. in a word, these nazis are pathetic.
edit: just saw the update with the response from the university ABOUT A DOG SHIT ASSIGNMENT THAT DIDN'T EVEN ENGAGE WITH THE SUBJECT MATTER. I HAVE NO FINGERS AND I MUST FEDPOST ISTG. ****************************************************** THE UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA.

::: spoiler Instructor Megan Waldron's comment
Samantha, I am the other instructor for this course, and I have also taken the time to read your paper. I concur with Mel on the grade you received. This paper should not be considered as a completion of the assignment.
Everyone has different ways in which they see the world, but in an academic course such as this you are being asked to support your ideas with empirical evidence and higher-level reasoning. I find it concerning that you state at the beginning of your paper that you do not think bullying ('teasing") is a bad thing. In addition, your paper directly and harshly criticizes your peers and their opinions, which are just as valuable as yours. Disagreeing with others is fine, but there is a respectful way to go about it. That goes for discussion posts as well as reaction papers.
Please employ more thoughtfulness in your future assignments.

These types constantly whine about having to take āpointlessā academic writing courses and then go on to prove why they desperately need them. This horseshit wouldāve been struggling to get a C in high school.
650 words
Iāll admit itās been a hot minute since I was in college/uni, and I was a Lit major, but 650 words isnāt an essay, at most itās some type of reflection assignment. Even in high school I never had an essay assignment with that few words.
In college? I was writing 2000-3000 word essays or short stories minimum for 4 different classes with at least one due for any given week. Plus, at least a novelās worth of reading for each week. Midterms would usually be another essay written in-class. If the final was a take home essay or project it was often in the range of 10-15 pages single-spaced.
650 words is literally fucking nothing and itās no surprise that TPUSA losers somehow manage to fail it. This is middle school level work.

Llituro [he/him, they/them] - 3w
exactly, this is such a short assignment that its consequence can't be more than an afterthought and now it's...this. it's just such a fucking pathetic failure on the part of the student, the hitler youth (tpusa-ou), and the university itself by cowing to this utter drivel. i was a dreaded STEM major in college, and i took a bunch of courses that required significantly more writing on a regular basis.

Chuds display such an active hatred of learning that I can only conclude that the only reason any of them bother going to college is to manufacture right wing outrage in an attempt to become a grifter

21
Llituro [he/him, they/them] - 3w
now that you mention it, yeah
14
Belly_Beanis [he/him] - 3w
I've written assignments longer than this for art classes. Literally just talking about pictures and sculpture for more than 600 words. We'd go to local galleries and have to type up responses to what we saw. Or giving feedback on classmates' work, which needed to be written down so they could reference it later.
6
Blakey [he/him] - 3w
Oh man. I had a capstone enviro science unit that gave us a major assignment with a ~600 word limit. That did not make it easier. But we were expected to get a lot done with those 600 words, it was a hard limit, and the professor was well known to be a hard marker.
But yeah, this is a joke. I would guess it's a first year unit that's easing the students into things and maybe was the first assignment for the unit? Not a bad thing, but also not challenging at all.
13
Blakey [he/him] - 3w
I mean, there's 650 word assignments and 650 word assignments. This one sounds like a joke but I've had assignments in science units that were around 600 words that needed to be fully referenced and to both adequately describe and comment on a complex topic, where the word count was explicitly set very, very low for the amount of evidence we were expected to provide, by a practitioner who was frankly very proud of the high level of difficulty of the unit, which was a capstone environmental science unit. He was constantly talking about how many people had to repeat the unit, "because they didn't actually complete the assignment", because it's honestly hard to know if you've gotten enough done to answer the prompt in so few words! I did pretty well in the unit overall - one of my weakest but still I believe I got a distinction - and I was sweating bullets worrying about whether or not I had adequately responded to the assignment question. Those assignments weren't especially time consuming perhaps but they were difficult.
I'll also say, I don't know if you've had to write a (scientific) lit review or other assignment for a science unit where you're providing 3-4 references per paragraph, which you should understand and paraphrase to support whatever you're trying to say, but bumping out the 2,000 words was always by far the easiest part of that process - a week and a half of reading journal articles and taking notes followed by a few hours of typing.
17
VILenin [he/him] - 3w
Iāve never written a college-level essay for a STEM class. I would probably have failed any non-intro level STEM class.
But speaking from a humanities perpspective, when you got a 650 word assignment it was almost always because the prof/TAs were handing out freebies to lighten their own workloads. As in, only way you fail them is by not turning anything in. Or at least thatās what I thought until now.
Definitely in a lit class, there is no way you are ever going to be submitting a 650 word essay. The only time Iāve had to do references packed that dense was in a Chinese history class and that was mostly because the prof had a hard-on for his own books.
If you did that in a lit class you it would actually drastically increase your chances of failing. It was viewed as just remixing other peoplesā work instead of writing anything of your own. The only exceptions were a class I took on translating literature, and classes on writing theory. And even then, 3-4 references per paragraph would be viewed as excessive.
9
Blakey [he/him] - 3w
Yeah, that makes sense. In science at least, you aren't doing anything new in undergrad. Anything you say has to come straight out of someone else's work, because you aren't actually doing any! If I, as an undergrad, say something about genetics that I haven't gotten from someone else's paper, what reason do I have for thinking it's true? I haven't done any genetics research so it's effectively a guess. You are still expected to apply the knowledge you get from your sources to the topic at hand, but you just aren't in a position to say anything too novel. It's one of the reasons I suspect STEM degrees are probably on average easier than arts degrees tbh.
7
Belly_Beanis [he/him] - 3w
you aren't doing anything new in undergrad.
That can be said about every undergraduate degree tbh lol...it's a matter of demonstrating you learned the material. Humanities professors have already read your essays before you wrote them a decade ago.
Part of it is training you to do actual research that will be new once you go into grad school or become a professional in your field. You can't go from writing 1,000 word essays to writing a 75,000 word thesis overnight.

The funny thing is that the essay prompt totally left room for bigoted nonsense, you just have to give it a pseudointellectual veneer. A consequence of the success of the viewpoint diversity propaganda is that it forces liberal institutions to raise reactionaries like cuckoo chicks, teaching them how to slide otherwise odious viewpoints under the noses of polite society, but the anti-intellectualism is so virulent that now they're attacking the momma bird for trying to bring them the worms they need to eat.
90

Yea! I didn't chime in because our brave and beautiful posters, some people are calling them the best posters of all time, had already dissected this and I didn't have anything to add.
This bigot, Samantha FUCKley lmao gottem, could've literally rocked up and said "this article demonstrates that adolescent males that are less gender conforming experience significant negative mental effects, and that's a small price to pay for maintaining gender stereotypes because it is God's plan" and gotten a grade. It would still be bigoted drivel but at least she could say she was engaging the literature, instead she chose to talk entirely out of her arse.

I wish I had any one professor that would have given me such constructive feedback on anything I turned in and to do so in response to such an obvious hateful bigot even.
77
Orcocracy [comrade/them] - 3w
Nah, this is not what professional academic feedback for a 650 word project should look like. The entirety of the feedback for a tiny piece of writing (that most of the class will have ChatGPT write for them anyway) should have been:
ā0/10 does not address the question.ā
Anything more than that should not have been written by the TA. The TA is absolutely not being paid enough to write such lengthy feedback, and it isnāt a TAās responsibility to deal with formal appeals. This whole thing was mismanaged by the tenured academics and administrators and should have never happened, and now theyāre scapegoating the poor TA.
Material that is hazardous to online reactionaries needs to be discussed extremely carefully, and treating the students like royalty with lengthy bespoke feedback for babyās-first-writing-project is just inviting disaster. Criticize them about their transphobia in-person during office hours or a small classroom setting where you can yell at them to put their phones away. Do not write that shit in the fucking chat window on moodle or blackboard where students can screenshot and post it to the toxic algorithmic apps that they actually pay attention to during their spare time instead of doing the fucking assigned readings.
63
Waraugh @lemmy.dbzer0.com - 3w
I completely glossed over the word count. I donāt think I considered anything under a thousand words to be an essay since I left highschool, that was decades ago, now Iām kind of appalled that 650 words are considered an essay. Being concise is great but how do you even formulate what you are engaging with and provide an informed response with only 650 words in an academic context.
36
Blakey [he/him] - 3w
Tell that to my fucking environmental impact assessments professor in final year. "I'm being generous in giving you a 600 word count, you need to learn to be way more concise than that when you're dealing with ministers" eat my entire asshole, ANGUS.
...Actually much as I dislike the guy that's probably the best thing he did with us but god damn was he an obnoxious asshole about it, and god DAMN are those short assignments harder at the end of your degree when you're expected to actually achieve anything with it.
25
KuroXppi [they/them] - 3w
I'm being generous in giving you a 600 word count, you need to learn to be way more concise than that when you're dealing with ministers
He's not wrong though
19
Blakey [he/him] - 3w
Yeah, I totally agree. Still a knob though. He gave us an example he wrote of a good paper that answered the question that was even shorter (he is literally a world expert who wrote a decent chunk of the IAIA best practices documentation, it's not that he doesn't know what he's doing) and all I could think while reading it was "I'm an undergrad. If I provided so few references on a paper in most of my units I would be pulled up on academic integrity. I'm not allowed to Just Say Stuff like you."
Presumably he didn't expect us to outdo what he did but I would have been very uncomfortable submitting it, it felt very, very under sourced.
14
KuroXppi [they/them] - 3w
Yes, totally. I went back to school after a few years of fulltime work, and they're different fields. You can't (well, probably better to say shouldn't) anticipate the working environment and enforce those requirements within the academic one because you're held to different standards. He's right in that ministers will only read the cover brief, if that, but he's wrong in implying that it's an acceptable yardstick while at school. Plus not everyone is going to graduate and write for government.
7
Blakey [he/him] - 3w
I mean, I'm sure that it's pretty much universal that you don't need to be anywhere near as anal about sourcing anywhere outside an academic context. It's still asking a lot of students to expect them to write something to that different standard with no training on how to do so - it was just a different expectation for that one unit. It was tough enough for me as a mature student in my 40s since I had just spent several years having it hammered into my head that every single idea I present must be supported by a reputable source or it's an ethical violation and I can get in trouble. Can't imagine how much tougher it would be for kids straight out of school.

that's a you problem then because the redditors were, by comparison, only annoying, while the christians are annoying and have amassed political power to the detriment of humanity.
13
darkcalling [comrade/them, she/her] - 3w
Yeah I can't take seriously statements like that. Tell me you were never hurt by these assholes and are privileged and the whole thing is academic without telling me that.
If you put reddit cringe atheists and annoying youtube manosphere sexist "skeptics" on the same tier as Evangelicals you're just wildly uninformed and offensively ignorant. One of these is just a bunch of annoying internet nerds circle jerking, another has immense political power, a broad base of support, incredible amounts of cash, fanatical devotion, infiltration of all levels of government, literally murders people and gets away with it, literally has a thing for covering up CSA and other abuse against children and adults at industrial scale. Lives in a totally deranged false reality, substitutes wild fantasy of 4000 years old earths and rejection of pretty much all of modern science and violent anti-intellectualism and a slavish devotion to the Protestant work ethic. And has succeed in the past and present in making women second class by denying them bodily autonomy, by inculcating from birth patriarchy and misogyny propaganda, and by driving thousands of LGBTQ to despair and suicide through their social control of whole towns and communities. We could reliably peel away at least a third the disaffected young men drawn into problematic movement atheism by influencers under the right conditions while I am convinced no conditions will peel away any statistically significant amount of Evangelicals to our cause because ours is antithetical to theirs.
10
Ram_The_Manparts [he/him] - 3w
It's a little more complicated than that when you remember that there's actually a world outside the US. A lot of the reactionary elements here in Europe for instance aren't really explicitly christian beyond a sort of vague "cultural christianity" that can mean a million different things depending on who you ask (and it's usually just something like baptizing your kids or getting married in a church because it's family tradition). The worst islamophobes, racists, misogynists, anti-lgbtq fucks, zionists, and just general bigots I've interacted with IRL or in predominantly European language internet spaces have pretty much all been atheists, and none of those people support the right wing politicians/parties they do for any religious reasons.
The sort of evangelical freaks you have to deal with over there just aren't much of a factor over here.
Now, you could of course make the argument that some of this shit is inspired by (or even directly "imported" from) the US and has its roots in US evangelicalism, and I'd agree with that to some degree, but the point is that religion isn't a prerequisite for these things to take hold.
5
Le_Wokisme [they/them, undecided] - 2w
when talking about reddit atheists we're mostly talking about movement atheists, not simple nonbelievers. there's little reason to form communities around nonbelief when religious doctrine isn't dominating society and eroding civil rights.
Now, you could of course make the argument that some of this shit is inspired by (or even directly "imported" from) the US and has its roots in US evangelicalism, and I'd agree with that to some degree, but the point is that religion isn't a prerequisite for these things to take hold.
it's not, but to the extent that reddit atheists reproduced the racism, misogyny, and white supremacy of their originating cultures they were simply failing to be better than the christofascists, and in the context of a major ameircan website should have been preferable to the god botherers.
1
SkingradGuard [he/him, comrade/them] - 3w

"Let's get this out of the way. You don't like me, and I don't like you. You don't want to learn anything on this curriculum, and I don't want to be here teaching it to you dunderheads. But unfortunately, the Party has decided that we have to do this. So let's be efficient about this and not waste each other's time."
10
MemesAreTheory [he/him, any] - 3w
There's a pragmatic question of pedagogy here. It's funny to think about the Soviet femme fatale ruining their lives until they learn to genuinely be grateful to her for it, but what I have unfortunately found works to my advantage is that these fuckers don't put up the same brain worm defense mechanisms when I talk to them as somebody who they've been trained to disregard or violently reject on sight. When they're not frothing at the mouth with rage, I can actually start to make some sense to them, and they'll nod along in agreement as I start talking about socialist talking points. That's what they've been trained to do when people like me speak and socialist talking points actually fucking make sense, go figure.
It's stupid and gross, but these fascists literally just won't listen to POC or queer folks or women. The part of their brains filled with a playlist of hateful shit not different at all from the things that you read in 19th century European race science and philosophy begins running all the greatest hits as soon as the wrong kind of person starts speaking. As a first step deworming procedure, it might just be more effective for folks like me to stand up there and give them what they've been trained to accept as a source of authority. It also saves those most harmed from this hatred from being exposed to more of it. Unless someone wanted to volunteer for the job, I don't think those harmed the most by these systems have the same obligation to be a part of the process.
I regrettably have some personal insight into this dynamic. I was at one point a downwardly economically mobile young white guy who wanted to get laid, so I was susceptible to late 2000s seduction bullshit and later the red pill. To this day it's my biggest regret taking part in those communities, but I'm very aware of how they think. Deprogramming CAN happen, but it's rare the person who can do it themselves. The only reason I got out is because I thought a lot of the big bloggers and early youtubers were kind of bad at making the arguments against feminists, so I should go read feminist literature and do a better job Lmao. I debate bro'd myself out of it, because it turns out if you ACTUALLY READ LEFTIST THEORY instead of straw manning it, you'll just find that it's correct. The dam broke and suddenly I realized they weren't just idiots, they were maliciously straw manning the left because if they didn't their whole project would fall apart and they'd lose their social capital and grift. Long story short, I know how those freaks view people and what kinds of defense mechanisms their parasitic ideology employs. I can sneak past the first layer just by showing up, so why not exploit that advantage? Ya know? Let me go do the back breaking work of tilling the soil so others can come along and plant the seeds.

While I definitely have a fantasy of being that Bolshevik woman and completely breaking these types in the ways a gulag or reeducation system should, what's really important is to get them to, as you suggest they need, actually read socialist theory.
And if a man who looks like them pretending on some level to agree with them that this exercise is a stupid state requirement and being friendly and approachable and "good cop", presenting it as "I'm supposed to get you to blindly accept these ideas, but how about we all read through the text and break it down and argue against it?" can get them to read it and realise it's correct, then I'll step aside with my nasty revolutionary terror fantasies and let something that actually works be done instead.
But if we need some sort of "good cop bad cop" to properly break and rebuild them, I'm sure there's at least a few women and femme presenting folks out there who'd love to live out a Cold War leftist fantasy of being the dangerous Soviet woman McCarthy warned you about, while also being genuinely useful to the peoples' state and to the project of properly educating people who need it. Not sure if I'd actually be good at doing the work that role needs to do, but it's certainly a tempting position.

I'm gonna push back on this vision as idealism, cathartic though it may be. I'm not seeking to good cop them too hard or pretend to be anything other than what I am. Mao's liberalism communists disdain to hide their views and all that. I just mean that if we want to do anything other than actually torture them for our own sick ends, we should be educating them in a way that gets the job done for the least resources possible. It's unfair to the workers doing the teaching, it's unfair to society to shoulder the burden of paying for their incarceration for any longer than absolutely necessary, and ultimately, it's unfair to the incarcerated to antagonize them any more than necessary. Say what we will about their horrible beliefs, I'm not a retributivist when it comes to justice. We're better than the idealist nonsense that underpins our current justice system and we shouldn't let the ugly motivation of vengeance be the guiding light when engaging here. It should be rehabilitation, and whatever methods we can use to rehabilitate ASAP so they can be lifted to sapience and rejoin society as well adjusted members rather than horrible little gremlins hell bent on harming the historically marginalized. I'd argue this resource minimization is just a socially responsible way to minimize any further damage they can do, directly or indirectly, short of slipping into immoral forms of torture or unproductive and unjustifiable compromise of principles, like your good cop as described.
I'm just an educator by trade, and consider it part of my duty to reach the reachable as a professional obligation if nothing else. Discussing this with my peers who are POC or women, we widely recognize the type and how frustrating it is that they'll listen to me and not them. None of us like this, it's just a pragmatic matter to some extent, so if we're trying to teach a group of folks and problem makers push back in them I'm brought in as the BAD cop if anything. A punishment or admonishment coming from me gets treated with more consideration than one from my marginalized peer, which might get written off as "that fucking slur hates me because they're incapable of rational thought." Again, terrible though it may be, they don't get to use that line of reasoning on me. The same message coming from my lips can't be written off in the same ways. Surely it can be written off with plenty of other vicious and moronic cope, but their options are more limited, and if they have a predisposition to accept authority from the likes of me why not exploit that to our advantage?
You should do some reading about how political education actually occurs during reeducation in cuba. The political officer more or less lives with the prisoners and is there to help coach and guide their development. Under ideal conditions, prisoners are to be released within 2 years of joining the political reeducation program. This is a great article that explores the philosophy of the program in Cuba.
This is a fantastic article that cuts through the ridiculous propaganda of western rags uncritically printing allegations of gusanos and the Yeonmi Parks of Cuba.
The biggest difference between Cuba's situation and our own is the level of wealth and class character of offender. Cuba's political prisoners tended to be peasants, not the 'middle class' as exists in the US or proletariat. We'd need to adjust our program accordingly, but I don't want to get too into the weeds here until we're operating from a materialist lens and rooting our analysis in proven socialist projects rather than idealist notions of how reeducation looks. PM me if you have difficulty accessing the article and we can figure out how I can get it to you.

Wrote too much in her reasoning. "This is a scientific class, this is not a scientific response. Fail." is all that is required.
The more you write, the more they can hang you with. The administration can ask for further details and just raising the "demonic" part alone would be more than enough to justify it, behind closed doors, where it isn't used in propaganda through social media drama.

Yes exactly. If someone is handing in an essay like that then the assumption should be bad faith. This teacher responded very naively, or perhaps thought that their verbose explanations would be of benefit rather than harm, the problem is that the more you write the more there is to pick at. A one liner fail is boring for social media, a huge response is easy propaganda.

A bunch of medieval theology is basically this. Using all pronouns for god, talking about god as both the father and the mother. Depicting Jesus (who is god in mortal form) as being both male and female. The wound on his side as a vagina. Julian of Norwich equated Jesus' ability to feed the masses with lactation etc.
They backed off on that going into the early modern period (and protestants didn't really do that stuff either etc)

::: spoiler Student Samantha Fulnecky's reaction paper
This article provoking and caused me to thoroughly evaluate the idea of gender and the role it plays in our society. The article discussed peers using teasing as a way to enforce gender norms. I do not necessarily see this as a problem. God made male and female and made us differently from each other on purpose and for a purpose. God is very intentional with what He makes, and I believe trying to change that would only do more harm. Gender roles and tendencies should not be considered "stereotypes". Women naturally want to do womanly things because God created us with those womanly desires in our hearts. The same goes for men. God created men in the image of His courage and strength, and He created women in the image of His beauty. He intentionally created women differently than men and we should live our lives with that in mind.
It is frustrating to me when I read articles like this and discussion posts from my classmates of so many people trying to conform to the same mundane opinion, so they do not step on people's toes. I think that is a cowardly and insincere way to live. It is important to use the freedom of speech we have in this country, and I personally believe that eliminating gender in our society would be detrimental, as it pulls us farther from God's original plan for humans. It is perfectly normal for kids to follow gender "stereotypes" because that is how God made us. The reason so many girls want to feel womanly and care for others in a motherly way is not because they feel pressured to fit into social norms. It is because God created and chose them to reflect His beauty and His compassion in that way. In Genesis, God says that it is not good for man to be alone, so He created a helper for man (which is a woman). Many people assume the word "helper" in this context to be condescending and offensive to women. However, the original word in Hebrew is "ezer kenegdo" and that directly translates to "helper equal to". Additionally, God describes Himself in the Bible using "ezer kenegdo", or "helper", and He describes His Holy Spirit as our Helper as well. This shows the importance God places on the role of the helper (women's roles). God does not view women as less significant than men. He created us with such intentionally and care and He made women in his image of being a helper, and in the image of His beauty. If leaning into that role means I am "following gender stereotypes" then I am happy to be following a stereotype that aligns with the gifts and abilities God gave me as a woman.
I do not think men and women are pressured to be more masculine or feminine. I strongly disagree with the idea from the article that encouraging acceptance of diverse gender expressions could improve students' confidence. Society pushing the lie that there are multiple genders and everyone should be whatever they want to be is demonic and severely harms American youth. I do not want kids to or bullied in school. However, pushing the lie that everyone has their own truth and everyone can do whatever they want and be whoever they want is not biblical whatsoever. The Bible says that our lives are not our own but that our lives and bodies belong to the Lord for His glory. I live my life based on this truth and firmly believe that there would be less gender issues and insecurities in children if they were knowing that they do not belong to themselves, but they belong to the Lord.
Overall, reading articles such as this one encourage me to one day raise my children knowing that they have a Heavenly Father who loves them and cherishes them deeply and that having their identity firmly rooted in who He is will give them the satisfaction and acceptance that the world can never provide for them. My prayer for the world and specifically for American society and youth is that they would not believe the lies being spread from Satan that make them believe they are better off as another gender than what God made them. I pray that they feel God's love and acceptance as who He originally created them to be.

Please note that I am not deducting points because you have certain beliefs, but instead I am deducting point for you posting a reaction paper that does not answer the questions for this assignment, contradicts itself, heavily uses personal ideology over empirical evidence in a scientific class, and is at times offensive. While you are entitled to your own personal beliefs, there is an appropriate time or place to implement them in your reflections. I encourage all students to question or challenge the course material with other empirical findings or testable hypotheses, but using your own personal beliefs to argue against the findings of not only this article, but the findings of countless articles across psychology, biology, sociology, etc. is not best practice.
You argue that abiding by normative gender roles is beneficial (it is perfectly fine to believe this), but then to say that everyone should act the same, while also saying that people aren't pressured into gendered expectations is contradictory, especially since your arguments reflect a religious pressure to act in gender-stereotypical ways. You can say that strict gender norms don't create gender stereotypes, but that isn't true by definition of what a stereotype is. Please note that acknowledging gender stereotypes does not immediately denote a negative connotation, a nuance this article discusses.
Additionally, to call an entire group of people "demonic" is highly offensive, especially a minoritized population. You are entitled to your own beliefs, but this isn't a vague narrative of "society pushes lies," but instead the result of countless years developing psychological and scientific evidence for these claims and directly interacting with the communities involved. You may personally disagree with this, but that doesn't change the fact that every major psychological, medical, pediatric, and psychiatric association in the United States acknowledges that, biologically and psychologically, sex and gender is neither binary nor fixed.
I implore you apply some more perspective and empathy in your work. If you personally disagree with the findings, then by all means share your criticisms, but make sure to do so in a way that is appropriate and using the methodology of empirical psychology, as aligned with the learning goals in this class. If you have any additional questions or concerns about this or would like some additional educational resources, I would be happy to discuss this further and provide you with them.
The University of Oklahoma takes seriously concerns involving First Amendment rights, certainly including religious freedoms. First, the college acted immediately to address the academic issue raised by the student. College leaders contacted her on the day her letter was received and have maintained regular communication throughout the process. As previously stated, a formal grade appeals process was conducted. The process resulted in steps to ensure no academic harm to the student from the graded assignments.
Second, the student reported filing a claim of illegal discrimination based on religious beliefs to the appropriate university office.

I have encountered this kind of person in undergrad studies. In a literature course that tracked from the earliest English written works through to the modern era, a majority of the early works were about religion. Very frequently we'd be asked by the professor in class to contrast the view of Christianity or some aspect of it in the work we'd just read with something earlier we'd previously read. Without fail, every time this question would be asked one specific student would volunteer to answer and then immediately start criticizing the thousand year old work for its incorrect view of Jesus. Every single time. It wasted so much class time, everybody in class would groan and eyeball each other while this god-botherer would tell us what their preacher told them and why what the fuckin monk wrote in like 1100 is wrong and bad.

Relations Among Gender Typicality, Peer Relations, and Mental Health During Early Adolescence
Jennifer A. Jewell and Christia Spears Brown, University of Kentucky
Abstract
The current study examines whether being high in gender typicality is associated with popularity, whether being low in gender typicality is associated with rejection/teasing, and whether teasing due to low gender typicality mediates the association with negative mental health. Middle school children (34 boys and 50 girls) described hypothetical popular and rejected/teased peers, and completed self-report measures about their own gender typicality, experiences with gender-based teasing, depressive symptoms, anxiety, self-esteem, and body image. Participants also completed measures about their peersā gender typicality, popularity, and likeability. Results indicated that popular youth were described as more gender typical than rejected/teased youth. Further, being typical for oneās gender significantly predicted being rated as popular by peers, and this relationship was moderated by gender. Finally, low gender typicality predicted more negative mental health outcomes for boys. These relationships were, at times, mediated by experiences with gender-based teasing, suggesting that negative mental health outcomes may be a result of the social repercussions of being low in gender typicality rather than a direct result of low typicality.

The education system of the empire is a reproductive faculty of its domination over the world and we must let it burn with the heat of a raging supernova until all is left is class.
(i agree, tbh)

I have been listening to the TrueAnon episode on Charlie Kirk, and I am starting to revise my opinion of "that was a bad thing because we've lost our laughingstock".
Also, the teacher here should have made her comment that "I am giving you a 0/25 because God created me with the desire to give you a failing grade", referenced some obscure Bible verse, and watched what the student did.

A chud wrote the worst university essay ever and their trans teacher failed them, but then she went to cry at TPUSA about wokeness and the teacher got put on administrated leave (cw: transphobia)
Here is the essay
here is the teacher comment
jesus christ, this nazi country is so fucking illiterate. for anyone playing along at home, 650 words is like a page and a half of 1.5 spacing writing. put another tally down on "everyone is 12 now." it's even obvious just from the stupid TPUSA screenshots on twitter that this woman's essay was trash without even reading it. there's like 10 underlined grammatical or typographical mistakes on every screenshot. i'd be fucking embarrassed to have people associate me forever with some half-assed writing assignment i got triggered by in a college course. not to mention the prose is terrible and fails to engage with anything academic in any way. off rip, it's "God this" and "God that," nothing at all to do with empirically rigorous argumentation. in a word, these nazis are pathetic.
edit: just saw the update with the response from the university ABOUT A DOG SHIT ASSIGNMENT THAT DIDN'T EVEN ENGAGE WITH THE SUBJECT MATTER. I HAVE NO FINGERS AND I MUST FEDPOST ISTG. ****************************************************** THE UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA.
and here's an additional comment from the other instructor of the course backing the grade given (0/25).
Imagine having "you do not think bullying (teasing) is a bad thing" as a conversation about a paper you've written, after which you tried to bully university staff by using a screenshot containing that phrase
What a fucking loser

::: spoiler Instructor Megan Waldron's comment Samantha, I am the other instructor for this course, and I have also taken the time to read your paper.
These types constantly whine about having to take āpointlessā academic writing courses and then go on to prove why they desperately need them. This horseshit wouldāve been struggling to get a C in high school.
650 words is an internet comment. š

Of which they usually respond with āIām not reading all thatā
that's becoming more and more common here & I can't stand it. Just a genuinely dismissive & shitty thing to respond to a post with.
i'm not reading all that, free palestine.
I used to get so annoyed 10-15 years ago when it was common to reply to long comments or posts with "Can we get a TL;DR?"
Everyone is so fucking lazy and illiterate, and it's gotten worse in the last decade.
exactly, this is such a short assignment that its consequence can't be more than an afterthought and now it's...this. it's just such a fucking pathetic failure on the part of the student, the hitler youth (tpusa-ou), and the university itself by cowing to this utter drivel. i was a dreaded STEM major in college, and i took a bunch of courses that required significantly more writing on a regular basis.
Chuds display such an active hatred of learning that I can only conclude that the only reason any of them bother going to college is to manufacture right wing outrage in an attempt to become a grifter
don't forget the veneer of conferred merit that all of these fascist institutions generally consider a positive, regardless of their prevaricating on the woke indoctrination of the university.
I feel like I had assignments where I had to write proofs with a higher word count lol
now that you mention it, yeah
I've written assignments longer than this for art classes. Literally just talking about pictures and sculpture for more than 600 words. We'd go to local galleries and have to type up responses to what we saw. Or giving feedback on classmates' work, which needed to be written down so they could reference it later.
After the revolution, a lot of people are going to need all their slop targeted at low attention spans taken away. See if we can get them to actually read stuff when it's that or stare at a blank wall.
I had philosophy exams in highschool where I had to write upwards of 2000 words in under 2 hours lol. 650 is like a long lemmy comment.
Every time I see shit like this, it only makes me more atheist. I'm convinced by this point that the primary purpose of religion is to concoct unfalsifiable justifications for the unjustifiable.
it is truly the defense of the most ignorant and violent in our society. there is nothing of it from which i may find value any longer, and its value to me as a child was driving me fucking insane not being able to reconcile the dogma with the text itself.
Oklahoma? No wonder
I wrote more than 650 words on the regular for assignments with no maximum in like 6th and 7th grade, this is insulting 12 year olds.
Yea! I didn't chime in because our brave and beautiful posters,
some people are calling them the best posters of all time, had already dissected this and I didn't have anything to add.
These true believers are the product of the best propaganda that William F. Buckley and Barry Goldwater could dream up, and they can't follow the plan any more.
Awwww, that bear icon is so cutes! I love it! I mean, the implication that everyone on this website is a bear, is very fun, but the image itself is also very cute in and of itself.
Who says we aren't all secretly bears
Oh, I assumed that was kinda an open secret. Obviously we're all bears. What kind of bear are you? I'm a Care Bear.

Damn that professor is a gem, her response was incredibly professional and even supportive. Such a shame the student, university, ace country has their head so far up their asses. I wish I had any one professor that would have given me such constructive feedback on anything I turned in and to do so in response to such an obvious hateful bigot even.
He's not wrong though
(sorry undeleted my comment after i saw your reply)
Our Jordan Peterson.
This poor Southern professor was canceled by the fascist mainstream for her unpopular but correct views. Literally the modern day Galileo!
Not even trying to be edgy when I say this country will need a cultural revolution unlike anything that has been witnessed before in history in order to excise this obscene anti-social behavior and anti-intellectualism that is fucking laser etched into the fabric of this abominable nation. What a fucking grotesque """culture""" we're all fucking trapped in. I hate it here.
A cultural revolution otherwise known as a giant asteroid.
just build a wall around most of the continental united states and let the rest of the world move on without us
citing "god" in a college essay should just get you kicked out all together
lol, lmao even.
what a fucking joke, does this person not know other religions exist? "Not everyone has a right to claim their own truth, it says so in my specific religious text that I believe to be true"
GOD SAID THAT MY ILLITERACY COUNTS AS AN ARGUMENT, AND IF YOU DON'T AGREE I'M CALLING THE GESTAPO
DO YOU KNOW WHAT'S FUCKING FRUSTRATING TO ME?? When people claim a bunch of shit that god did without any fucking evidence. Prove he made men and women, that he made gender, that he's intentional with his creation, any of it. That the bible contains his words and description of himself. Prove this dickhead is even real before citing him.
We can do the skeptic and reddit atheist movement again, right? Just make it clear islamophobes can fuck right off, right?
Focus 100% on the KKKri$$tians
Can we do it without the reddit/skeptic community this time?
Stg those people made me cringe more than the Christians demanding I go to church
that's a you problem then because the redditors were, by comparison, only annoying, while the christians are annoying and have amassed political power to the detriment of humanity.
Now, you could of course make the argument that some of this shit is inspired by (or even directly "imported" from) the US and has its roots in US evangelicalism, and I'd agree with that to some degree, but the point is that religion isn't a prerequisite for these things to take hold.
when talking about reddit atheists we're mostly talking about movement atheists, not simple nonbelievers. there's little reason to form communities around nonbelief when religious doctrine isn't dominating society and eroding civil rights.
it's not, but to the extent that reddit atheists reproduced the racism, misogyny, and white supremacy of their originating cultures they were simply failing to be better than the christofascists, and in the context of a major ameircan website should have been preferable to the god botherers.
Most of those redditor skeptic people became these same christofascists. It wasn't really a true opposition to religion, but the desire to exterminate Muslims
Wow I had professors in college who tore me apart when I put a comma in the wrong place. This was such a thoughtful and insightful response to the equivalent of a Reddit comment.
Then the spineless University bends over backwards to give the illiterate dunce a passing grade for a paper that can be summarized as: āGod says. Therefore I am.
MFW because some neckbeards dunked on some low-hanging fruit on tumblr during gamergate means we all have to listen to chuds and canāt tell them to fuck off because truth is now determined by your social capital. And god forbid we make the CHUDs angryā¦they might draw us uglyā¦they could even unleash someā¦.SICK BURNS! The horror!
Imagine being a TA and getting put under a national spotlight for giving a bad grade to a bad assignment. Nightmare fuel
Please America, continue ruining your higher education system with dumbass ideological purity tests. Please produce the dumbest, most incompetent elite ever, someone so preoccupied with vice signalling and divorced from reality that they won't be able to maintain the evil empire.
The only problem with the elite being dumb and incompetent like that, is that they have access to the world's largest nuclear stockpile, and will be dumb enough to nuke half the planet to "own the libs"
Maybe if they become grotesquely stupid enough the people in the military will grow to hate them too and align with us at least tactically and temporarily to depose them. It can't feel good to get bossed around by someone who mispronounces nuclear.
I would imagine that the military would be just as CHUDified as the civilian government, if not more so. A lack of education and promoting of anti-intellectualism and ignorance is always bad, even when our enemies are the ones doing it. They aren't going to just be making themselves suffer, they'll be making everyone else suffer as well.
every new day presents a test to the empire to see if they've pulled it off yet
As a tall Hwight man, I will serve penance for my ancestors crimes by educating these fucking cretins in the gulag after the revolution. When they complain about their low grades I'll tell them God gave me the authority as a white man to determine their assignment's worth by their own logic, so choose new logic or get back to breaking rocks.
This sounds like more fun than it is. Talking to these troglodytes is a cognito-hazard and reading their God awful writing is it's own kind of punishment. Trust me.
Lol found this image in the replies
true tbh
I thought the numeric code for Amerikkka was 666? Eh, 0 also works, I guess.
I dunno what these guys would hate more, being re-educated by someone like you, who in their worldview is supposed to be on their side, or by a stereotypical Bolshevik woman, dressed like the scary Soviet women in all those awful Cold War spy movies, who hates them all from day one and knows and expects that they hate her.
"Let's get this out of the way. You don't like me, and I don't like you. You don't want to learn anything on this curriculum, and I don't want to be here teaching it to you dunderheads. But unfortunately, the Party has decided that we have to do this. So let's be efficient about this and not waste each other's time."
This is a great article that explores the philosophy of the program in Cuba.
https://www.jstor.org/stable/23294111
Yeah, the strategic error here was writing assuming things would be treated in good faith rather than that it would be weaponized by malicious actors.
Yes. I don't want to police how a trans professor responds to an assignment that amounted to a personal attack, but she did give them ammo by saying it was "offensive". The chuds will ignore everything else and claim the student failed because she hurt the professor's feelings.
Heh, no bailouts, everyone has to earn their way!
Okay then I'm failing you for writing a shitty essay.
Wait, no, TPUSA BAIL ME OUT!
as a university student, you are encouraged to explore many ideas including-and-increasingly-limited-to reactionary conservatism.
you will be treated with the utmost respect no matter what you advocate for. unless you are advocating the divestment of university resources from profiteering off slavery and genocide. then you will be gassed, beaten, and blacklisted.
wrote that shit bad on purpose to mcarthyism a trans woman
"Society pushing the lie that there are multiple genders . . . is demonic . . . " Is really funny to say.
One gender, one race world. Let's go.
Yeah it reads like boilerplate conservative drivel. Entirely possible this lady just writes like this whenever she can, but I also would not be surprised if this was concocted. I'm not saying it is, but their campus TPUSA chapter could be engineering it and Sammy's angling for that sweet Riley Gaines career path.
actual sentence from her essay:
bit idea: insisting there's only one gender because you misunderstood embryonic development and think "cis" men are transed at birth.
"There is one gender, it's mine, you can't have it!"
Mom said it was my turn to have the gender today.
Nuh uh! *holds the gender up above my head* It's mine!
"You wouldn't download a Gender"
Well, when it becomes possible to download and print out things like makeup and gendered clothing and rudimentary gender expression gear... yes, people would download a gender. Even if some of that stuff is considered piracy to spread online. Be queer, do crime, after all.
Gender is a illusion hoisted upon God's creation by the demiurge. Only by understanding and practicing Gnosticism can one see gender for the illusion that it is and embrace one's innate nature as luminous beings of light free from the shackles of gender.
My twelve year old self would have told you this with a straight face. Or something involving ritual magick and "the divine androgyne". Then five minutes later insisted to you that she's a cis girl and all her issues with gender are just sexual orientation problems and "but when you're doing certain mysticism and occult practices on your own you have to play two gender roles".
It was a horrible mess that wasted years of my life with ridiculous cringey phases I have nothing to show for. But hey, at least I probably have one of the most insane "how I hid my fluidity from myself as a kid" stories out there!
Mutiples are woke, because they will inevitably lead to working with western arabic numerals.
WE ARE CHARLIE KIRK, WE CARRY THE FLAME
Lol I forgot that you were going off when Charlie died of natural causes. Yeah is this nominative determinism in carrying on TPUSA's mission after their martyr gave the world the gift of full neck?
"How many dumb chud students have trans professors failed?"
"Counting or not counting shitty essays?"
more like Holenecky
One of the main purposes of conservatism is for the intellectually and creatively bankrupt to offload the consequences of their ineptitude onto society as a whole
"God created woman in the image of His beauty"
Therefore God is trans
Or at least cross dresses
Checkmate theists
God's pronouns are she/her and you WILL respect it
A bunch of medieval theology is basically this.
Damn. If they still did that, maybe I could have blamed my fluidity on divine forces and been considered some sort of religious icon. Instead of having Catholics in power over children torture me for nonconformity for over a decade and make it take me many years longer than it should have to figure out what was going on.
"all women are trans"
-confused christians somehow.
That essay reads like Homer's restaurant review
"And at the end you just repeat 'God says so' over and over"
"It's so hard to get to 650 words"
I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:
Doesn't TPUSA do this like twice a year? How are any of them even finishing college

The comments were so kind and constructive. Chuds are such evil bastards.

::: spoiler Student Samantha Fulnecky's reaction paper This article provoking and caused me to thoroughly evaluate the idea of gender and the role it plays in our society.
::: spoiler Instructor Mel Curth's comment Please note that I am not deducting points because you have certain beliefs, but instead I am deducting point for you posting a reaction paper that does not answer the questions for this assignment, contradicts itself, heavily uses personal ideology over empirical evidence in a scientific class, and is at times offensive.
Upon receiving notice from the student on the grading of an assignment, the University immediately began a full review of the situation and has acted swiftly to address the matter.
OU has a clear process for reviewing such claims and it has been activated. The graduate student instructor has been placed on administrative leave pending the finalization of this process. To ensure fairness in the process, a full-time professor is serving as the course instructor for the remainder of the semester. :::
::: spoiler Instructor Megan Waldron's comment Samantha, I am the other instructor for this course, and I have also taken the time to read your paper.

Does the paper show a clear tie-in to the assigned article? (10 points)
Does the paper present a thoughtful reaction or response to the article, rather than a summary? (10 points)
Is the paper clearly written? (5 points)
You must write a 650 words (body of text), double-spaced reaction paper demonstrating that you read the assigned article, and includes a thoughtful reaction to the material presented in the article. Omfg it's only a 650 word minimum? Man I have had difficult short assignments before but they were expecting me to get a LOT more done with a 600 word MAXIMUM! One in particular we were told "there's no minimum. If you can get it done in 400 words good for you. You can't, though."
Mfw in college I had to write a 10,000 word essay on Jane Jacobs's Death and Life of Great American Cities

Ermm actually if God is man's strength and courage and woman's beauty, SHE'd be a girlboss who created a universe if she showed herself lol
This is a very specific Type of American and they should not be humored.
Someone in university wrote that absolute garbage? Amerikkkan education really is fucked up.
Her name is Fulnecky. It has nothing to do with anything, but damn. Never go fulnecky

What was the essay the student was supposed to be responding to?
its was a 650 word essay about their reaction to an article about how people are perceived based on societal expectations of gender.
650 words lmao I post harder than that after drinking a particularly strong coffee
Sorry, I meant, what is the article the student read and responded to. The one the student said is thought provoking in their 650 word response.
here is the name, also she didnt get to 650 words so she still would have failed
and she didnt follow the instructions
Didn't even make it to 650 words??? I would've gotten a better grade if I just copy and pasted the lyrics to One Week.
It's actually 734 words, by my countāthe Xcancel link doesn't make it clear that there's a reply which contains the closing paragraph (see this comment for a plaintext version).

JFC she just saw the word "gender" and immediately decided this article was about putting puberty blockers in the water fountains.
No, you Evangelical fuck. This is an article about girls being bullied for liking sports and camping and boys being bullied for not liking trucks and cigars.
If I didn't have good people in my life who just happened to be Christian I would be very anti-Christian by now. I fucking HATE the people that do this shit. Total garbage human that uses make-believe to excuse their bigotry and hatred.
They aren't good Christians, they are good people who happen to still be Christians, probably because they still believe in the old philosophy, but modern Christianity is nothing but a financial scam. Don't attribute their goodness to their Christianity.
Am I a boomer for thinking 650 words shouldn't qualify as an essay?
Yes. Make essays shorter, let AI write them, and let American students tip the desks over when they're still not given 100/100 treatlerite points.
The education system of the empire is a reproductive faculty of its domination over the world and we must let it burn with the heat of a raging supernova until all is left is class.

Is there a GoFundMe for the teacher? When dipshits on the right get canned for actual bigotry they are showered in money. We should do the same on the left.
