I have noticed a big uptick in CHUDs and libs using this sort of thought terminating cliche about Marx and Engels lately. I guess the feds have noticed that people in the US have more interest in communism right now than they have in probably at least 30-40 years, so they have to do everything in their power to poison the well. It doesn't matter if Engels was literally the richest, most spoiled mofo on the planet, he still recognised that the system was awful, and helped his friend write about how awful it is.
It's both brilliant and awful as a thought terminating cliche, it never directly targets anything Marx ever actually wrote, just declaring him completely invalid without ever actually reading any of his writings. It really does hit the "everyone is 12" mentality of the US. "You can't read Marx, because he was a loser, you won't get to sit with the cool kids if you read Marx!"

It's not even true about Marx or Engles in any way. Marx was literally in Paris while it was under siege during the Franco-Prussian War as a reporter from the other side. It's like if an American reporter got embedded with Russians to broadcast out of Donbas. Engles literally owned a textile factory and decided he didn't like being an owner so he talked to his workers about what he should do.
