I’m sharing this again and it’s about my three sisters who are still in custody and each day that passes makes it harder for me to believe that they are apart away from me . I can’t pretend to be strong today.

We’re just a small group of visible trans women and refugee staying in Juba South Sudan trying to survive…without family, without safety, just each other and the kindness of people who see us as human.

A week ago, my sisters were arrested while fetching water. I brought their documents to the station, hoping it would help but the officers said it was “too late.” Since then, they’ve endured beatings, humiliation and freezing nights on the bare floor. Hearing them when I last visited broke me in ways I can’t describe.

The officers are still demanding money for their release. We’ve managed to cover some of it but there’s still $596 standing between them and freedom. Every extra night they spend there is dangerous. I wish I could pay it myself but I can’t.
