Shit like this is just the natural end goal of the "you will own nothing and be happy" ethos that drives late capitalism. The average subject under western capital has no joys in life, no family, no pets, no belongings, they exist wholly as a cog in the machine of production they are alienated from by many, many, degrees. And the right still has the gall to say that communism is like "anti-human" or "anti-family", it's amazing.

You see, capitalism = good, greed = bad, therefore greed != capitalism.
However, capitalism + greed = good + bad = neutral, so really who am I to judge a capitalist. so it's probably some other third thing that's to blame.

I find it funny how right-wingers always imagine leftists employing the "not real socialism" defense when they argue with them in their head, because I've never heard an actual communist say that. Yet I hear capitalist apologists say "that wasn't real capitalism" all the time.

Yeah it's rare to find a pro-capitalist who's actually spent time learning about their ideology. They don't even realise they have an ideology, as a rule.
"Never believe that anti-Semites capitalist apologists are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites capitalist apologists have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past."
