Its was good because DC and Marvel really sucked and they decided for some reason that only selling comics on comics stores and only making comics for comic readers (30s men) was a good idea in the 90s

Don't forget trying to force a collector's market by printing multiple variant covers for almost every single title they put out

Or oversaturation of the market in other ways.

I wouldn't even wipe my ass with an in-bag Death of Superman at this point. Cool, it's still got the shirt, lemme just go to a local fucking yard sale and pick up six more.

Don't get me wrong, it was a big event at the time, but the expectations that it was going to be worth any money was kinda a self-defeating prophecy, given just how widely spread the coverage was. It was on the national news.

I still remember my local news channel covering it when it happened

They interviewed some old guy in suspenders who was like "I don't care for this nonsense, nosiree"
