"Non-Compete Clause"

…You know things are gonna be good when the episode's named after contract law! Applejack and Rainbow Dash take the Young Six on a field trip to learn teamwork, but they (AJ+RD) can't cooperate as they both want a coveted Teacher of the Month award. Disaster ensues!

This is the last episode with a Cinemare Sins episode at the moment.

"The Break Up Break Down"

…Miscommunication leads Big Mac to think his Very Special Somepony is about to break up with him; at the same time, the Ojamajos CMC are trying to find out about Sweetie Belle's "secret admirer". This episode's plot was apparently partially inspired by how the show executives would constantly confuse the names of Sugar Belle and Sweetie Belle in production notes, so that's fun.

"Molt Down"

…Spike hits puberty. Now if you're thinking, "Didn't that already happen in S2E10 'Secret of My Excess'?"… Yeah kinda, and that's actually addressed in this episode: turns out that there are two different phenomena that can be called Dragon Puberty, and in the case of "Molt Down", it's the "molt", which causes a dragon to become stinky and develop lots of red spots on the face.

Rarity goes lowercase deaf in this episode, but she regains her hearing roughly two minutes and seven seconds after we learn of her issue. This is the only time in the show when a character is completely unable to hear.

"Marks for Effort"

…The Ojamajos CMC try to convince Twilight Sparkle to let them into the School of Friendship, but the trio already know everything there is to know about friendship, so Twilight keeps refusing them. After a while of this, the CMC end up stumbling upon a new filly named Cozy Glow, who will become an important character later on.

"The Mean 6"

…Queen Chrysalis returns to enact her vengeance on Starlight Yeltsin and the Mane Six, creating clones of the latter to do her bidding.

This was the last episode before season 8's midseason hiatus, and it's also the most memorable of MLP:FiM's three "midseason finales". The other two were S5E13 "Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep?" and S9E13 "Between Dark and Dawn".

"A Matter of Principals"

…Starlight Yeltsin is left in charge of the School of Friendship and Discord resolves to do everything in his power to make her job as difficult as possible. :::
